I dont understand the hate

What were they supposed to do..? Seems to me, BDM tried what they could. Not enough people were buying. I suppose they could've stuck with a smaller business model. You know, had less overhead, built fewer bikes, etc.
Although, somewhere around 2004-2005 they really started taking off. After 10yrs to sell 10,000 bikes, they sold 10,000 in a couple years... I think they were well on their way to BIG TIME.
However, when the shit hit the fan in late 2008... many companies were caught by surprise. Look how many people lost fortunes in the stock market at that time. They werent all idiots. The truth is very few people saw that crash coming. I personally know many people who lost their jobs. I know several who lost their houses.
Ive been in business for myself for 20yrs. 2009, & 2010 are by far the worst 24mos Ive had in business in well over a decade. Even with minimal debt, & a long tenure.. I can only take so much more of this economy before I'll be job hunting
My point ..... it is, what it is. I think alot of people would have just took the money & ran. It appears Sheldon tried to make it work at all costs. Not to mention, if you bought a brand new bike from BDM in the last few months..... c'mon.... this has been rumor for quite some time. Hell most of here at BDB were worried this was gonna happen a year ago :loony:
Im glad I got the bike I wanted. Im glad I have a 2004 (before they got too big). Plus I never liked the look of the right side drive
Warranty shmarranty. Ive never bought a warranty on anything ever. Only warranties Ive ever had were the standard ones given. Although, at the time I bought my dog... HD was only 1 year, & I believe BDM is the reason HD upped theirs.
I suppose if I had just plopped down 30K on a brand new bike.... I'd be a little worried about not having a warranty in case I got a lemon but, again I would go back to.... this really isnt a new revelation. I feel for the uninformed that may be new to bikes that went for a new BDM in the last couple months but, rather than be upset about something that could happen to their bike... I'd enjoy it & worry about a problem when it happens. There are plenty here, as stated, that will go the extra mile to keep us all on the road
