Ok,

I bought a Big Dog last Sep...If I would have known Big Dog was shutting down and my warranty would be worth "Fools Gold", I would have bought me a Nice Harley....Yeah, Yeah, nobody forced me to buy my Dog and I accept my decision, but BDM should have changed years ago when they laid off the first employee...150 million in one year? I would have invested half into some sort of stock that would have ensured Big Dog could weather the storm...It would be interesting to see their Financial Statements...Sorry fellas, I love the Dog, but the future is Dim for our Dogs....Parts are already "Scrace" and nobody wants to touch them...Yes, people drool over them because they are attractive, but during this economy the re-sale value is "Dismal"....I seen a $40k Big dog go for 13K....Owner cried...I didnt start this thread to pick a fight, only to allow those who have questioned their purchase vent...

:zz2cents: The truth for me is that I have never had warranty work done on a motorcycle. I buy them, perform the maintenance, and fix them myself. That's just me.:D

When I bought my BD the warranty was not the first thing on my mind. It was love at first site and I never looked back. I am going to keep my dog forever and ride the hell out of it. I think there is one point most are missing. They are keeping the parts business going. What would it take in a better economy to hire a few assemblers and all of a sudden you are a bike company again. Hang in there, they will build bikes again.

I'll give you an honest opinion, something you won't get from everyone that relplies...even though some will never admit it.

BD made some very, very nice looking scooters. My personal preference back in '04 was AIH,although I looked at both. I just liked the overall chrome quality better on the AIH bikes along with the tank on the Texas Chopper. Being able to upgrade to the 124ci motor may have swayed me a bit also.

What should piss guys off the most about the recent dealing is this forclosure has been in the works for months and months. Shit like this doesn't happen in a few weeks. YET, the company continued to sell motorcycles knowing full well that they were done in the near future.

The warranties are null & void after the bank seized control and forced BDM to shut the doors. You'll "maybe" get a little satisfaction from Baker & S&S...problem is, those aren't the parts that fail on these bikes...its the stuff BD manufactured.

I've seen a couple post on some threads backing Sheldon, which I find absolutely amazing. The Cocksucker knew his company was in deep shit, yet continued to fabricate stories about how they were "OK"!!...........BULLSHIT ASSHOLE.

Step up to the plate, be a fucking man and admit to your loyal customers your business is failing and you'd like to make things right with those that supported you for the last 15 years or so. Instead he denied problems, continued to sell bikes that he knew would be VOID of warrarties and worse yet...yanked his dealers around like they were dogs on a chain.

I saw all this Bullshit with American Ironhose. Didn't really affect me as I bought my bike in '04 and my warranty was done 6 months later (December '04) thanks to wanting a 124ci motor. But I felt bad for the guys who bought bikes late, when the quality & attention to detail was down. And the same thing has happend at BD.

The "BDM parts" business they're "trying" to set up...will go down to, you watch and see. Your trying to cater to a market that is already in the tank, yet alone manufacturing parts for a company that only sold 25,000 bikes or so. Were not talking hundreds of thousands like Harley-Davidson. This is a "cover-up" business that trying to appease customers that have bought BD motorcycles in the past. Don't fall for the story fellas'............you've already takin' a screwing once.

That's very positive....I'm keeping mine also...If only I could find an investor to go in and gear up for the Future of Custom Bikes! Now is the time for another "American Bike" to emerge! A billion Dollars would do it...Give me a Billion and I "nuetralize" Harley Davidson...:flag:

My bike is not even 6 month old and when I bought it I was counting on the warranty to fix any problem, and even I got a hell of a deal probably I wouldn't bought it (at that time I was in the market for a road king), but now I'm glad I did. I like this bike too much and I'm gonna keep it forever.

Ok, If that's the case? If someone find me a New Road King Classic (silver), I would trade my 08 K9 straight up! :whoop:

I don't know about any of your guys warranty, but when I purchased my bike with the extended warranty, it was from a thrid party (Pinnacle). I have never used it. I have had some warranty work done in the first year, but it went thru Big Dog. That being said the extended warranty starts from the day the bike was purchased, so I would think you could go thru the other company (not Big Dog) as long as you don't try to claim the work thru both companys (insurance fraud).

I wish I had more money.
As far as the guys that got screwed. Orange Skulls got it partially right anyway. The guys that actually had any warranty left. I feel for. Guys that have none left have no gripe right? I mean what gripe would they have? I have an 03 never had a warranty. Do majority of the work myself. Should I be pissed that bd went under other than the fact of the employes being out of work?

One reason they he is keeping the parts buisness open in that there is inventory overstock that can be liquidated. That means money to be made. I'm not pretending to know what is really going on but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with a deal worked out with the bank. Maybe thats why were seeing a roller on e-bay and rims all being sold from Kansas. just sayin

I always wanted that one too.
And you'd look good on it too. Offer Bill 15K and see if he'll take it.

The only problem is, that was a desperate attempt to make some money quick....NOW, the bank own all the overstock and parts, therefore Sheldon has to start from the ground up! Maybe he could buy them back from the bank?

I would imagine so. Lena or Amylulu could say for sure. I wouldnt give more than 15k to 18k for a brand new one right now.
Wow! The closing will definetely affect sales...My dealer got bikes over 3yr old...wonder what he will do now...they could sit there forever?

This is my second BD. Didn't buy it for warranty (installed a woods cam 90 days after I got it. Only dealer work that has been done was a VR and that was due to havin to have one put on 180 miles from home.

Resale value? Bikes, Boats, Etc. I bought my bikes for the ride. Not what I might get for it at resale. If I sold it right now I would go find another BD. :2thumbs:
