Sunpi Headlight Install

Good evening everyone. Hope everyone is ready for Christmas. So I got a Sunpi headlight for Christmas this year and I am trying to install it. I have the original headlight bucket and putting in the new Sunpi is pretty tight. I can get the inner ring in and started but it seems as though there is not enough room to put the trim ring on. Has anyone installed this Sunpi light on their BD with the original headlight bucket, and if so, did you have to use the inner ring and then the trim ring? Or did you use the trim ring only? It could be I don't have the light in all the way, but I am trying to be careful and not damage it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx and have a very Merry Christmas.

So, I can get the light in, but with the flat o-ring that goes behind the light installed, there is not enough clearance to use the adjure ring and the trim beauty ring? Again, I am still using the stock headlight bucket. Any thoughts?

I had to leave out the ring and gasket that was behind the stock lens.

These are sealed units so should not be an issue.

I am having the same problem , I plan on getting rid of the rings.
I actually cracked the light and ordered a different brand for the adjure headlight bucket.
I am going to break out my dremel on the broken headlight and remove some material around the edges. If it works I will post pics and a description of what I did

Well I got the light in late last night. I left out the rubber o-ring from the rear of the light and that gave me plenty of room for the adjure ring that sits directly next to the light itself. Then I was able to get the trim ring on. Still a tight fit. However, I was a little concerned about the vibration and wanted a little cushion between the back of the light and the inside lip of the bucket. I had some foam gasket material that was sticky on one side and cut it to fit on the back of the sunpie. This again made it too tight to use the adjure ring and trim ring. So I left the adjure ring off and just secured the new light with the trim ring. I will see how it goes.

I took out the thick rubber gasket behind the factory bulb and made a thinner paper gasket out of some thick paper stock. That worked for me. The paper gasket will help hold the new bulb assembly tight in the housing.

The sunpie fits in the adjure I have it. Yep it's a tight fit but it works, just gotta line up right.

Same with stock I removed the rubber gasket really no need for it anyways.

Got about 5k on each LED in both buckets, not a single issue.

Shit man I installed it about 3 years ago...lol...but I assume you mean the wave ring when you are saying bent ring?

The wave ring is definitely necessary or else the headlight will flop around without it, that is part of the whole adjure design. I can't remember if I used the flat ring. Although, in the adjure is the flat ring the actual back plate for the wave ring as well? I'm trying to remember, it's been a while.

The Adjure was a tighter fit and it took me a while to get it right but once I did it was no problem. Also I usually just replace that nylon string with a new one everytime I take it apart. They are about $10 from adjure, just not worth the pain, although once you go LED you really never have to touch it again, like I said about 3 years and 5k miles.

Adjure bucket is the way to go! Like you said Eric it takes a little bit to get it right but once you do it goes right together. Its a 1000 times better than messing with that stock mess

I did mean the wave ring, reason I asked is because the light is really tight in the bucket, it was so tight that I had to use a thin flathead to get it back out and cracked it and that’s why I am thinking it probably doesn’t need to be used.

Additionally, I used my dremel on the back of the cracked light to remove some of the diameter and it appears to fit allot smoother.
I plan on doing a full fitup with the broken modified light and may post up some (clear) photos of the install if it works

I wonder if that one you bought is thicker than the SunPie one. I measured the difference and it was almost identical to the old style
