If I'd known I would've done the same thing. I already found a source for chrome bolts. But, they wouldn't give me the side covers unless I brought the bike to them.

Black Dawg, where did you find your chrome grade 8's ? was it a web site?

A buddy has a catalog for generic hd aftermarket parts and it shows allen socket bolts. I'll get back to you with more info later this week when I get home.

BDM puts 2 different sizes in there for no reason... so that is what I'm using.

The non chrome bolts are cheesy. The dealer says there is a chrome cap to cover thrse bolt heads.

Do I see a "Group Buy" coming?

That is the reason I bumped my chrome cap & plugs thread the other day for Chopper Dave. Just hit up the HD dealer. Some hardware stores that have chrome have them as well as my thread says...

Strut bolts scratching swing arm 06 Mastiff

Has anyone else had problems with the replacement bolts scratching the swing arm? The left rear bolt hits the swing arm on my 06 Mastiff as I go over bumps. The dealer cut one shorter to stop it from happening. Big Dog is still researching the problem on my bike.

First off go intro yourself.

Second, its not the strut bolt... its the strut itself... you need longer bump stops and/or adjust up the ride height.

I added fender washers to mine to ensure they were long enough to not to bottom out on the struts.
