STRUT BOLT RECALL

Does anyone have any pics of your stock strut bolts. Looked at mine (still attached to fender) they have an oval (stove bolt) look to the head.

This bolt recall may be too early to see the new bolts and any info on them, not sure.

Are these the 4 allen heads that anchor the struts to the frame directly under the seat or the hidden bolts which attach the fender to the strut? Thanks

I don"t think so Kraut. I believe it's the bolts under the fender that you have to drop the rear tire to get to.

My bad, you don't have to remove the rear tire just follow Ricks thread and remove the fender.

Thanks! I need to check mine out-I've heard some metal klinking like something fell off the bike but couldn't find anything missing-blew it off as road debris. These could be what I heard. Reminds me of the HD AMF days when you had to rebuild them to make them reliable.

mine was the chrome allen on the side but I dont know about the recall

Thanks bro-I talked to my dealer yesterday about it, and they hadn't heard anything on it. Now I've got a copy:2thumbs:
You guys might want to check out the one I left on the sissy bars----some of the strut holes are to big--like mine(they're replacing my struts also)

I talked to the dealer on Wednesday and he had not heard about the strut bolt recall yet either. Told him all about it and said he would check it out. Any way I guess they have to get the right paperwork and parts in before they can set up the service work.

Now I don't believe I have to have my letter in hand if the dealer has been notified of the recall but I'm going to try to get that taken care of the same time they do the side covers. Couple weeks and every dealer ought to be in the loop on this.

During my rebuild... I'm just replacing all the 10 bolts (6 fender to strut & 4 strut to frame)

Got my "Rear Fender Strut Bolt Remedy" recall letter today from BDM. Doesn't say which bolts they are referring to though. Does state certain models 2005, 2006,2007,and 2008 Hopefully all the dealers have the parts and info. Will find out tomorrow.

If thats the case then thats an easy fix.
