Keep in mind, I'm retired with too much time on my hands.
Sometimes this can lead to trouble, but mama still loves me:up:
I needed some storage space on my recently purchased custom chopper. Mounting a sissy bar was too complicated and strapping a bag on my fender was not acceptable.
I began by fabricating a bracket that could be secured, using the two existing bolts that secured my rear fender to the bike frame. To make the removal more simple, I mounted two screws to the bracket. This allows me to remove the bag with attached bracket, by removing a couple nuts and washers and leaving the base plate attached to the bike.
I ended up riveting another strip of metal to the underside of the bag. Having two anchoring points for the long arm of the bracket really made a difference, both in strength and movement.
My goal was to make use of a storage bag I had already bought and to try and make it look clean and simple. Please tell me what you think. Thanks, Pat View attachment 13980
p/s I placed more pictures of the storage bag mod in my gallery. Including the finished product.
