Storage bag mod...........

Keep in mind, I'm retired with too much time on my hands.:D
Sometimes this can lead to trouble, but mama still loves me:up:
I needed some storage space on my recently purchased custom chopper. Mounting a sissy bar was too complicated and strapping a bag on my fender was not acceptable.
I began by fabricating a bracket that could be secured, using the two existing bolts that secured my rear fender to the bike frame. To make the removal more simple, I mounted two screws to the bracket. This allows me to remove the bag with attached bracket, by removing a couple nuts and washers and leaving the base plate attached to the bike.
I ended up riveting another strip of metal to the underside of the bag. Having two anchoring points for the long arm of the bracket really made a difference, both in strength and movement.
My goal was to make use of a storage bag I had already bought and to try and make it look clean and simple. Please tell me what you think. Thanks, Pat View attachment 13980

p/s I placed more pictures of the storage bag mod in my gallery. Including the finished product.

Storage bag road test.........

First and foremost, thank you all for your opinions and compliments.
I took the bag out on it's first road test today.:D It passed with flying colors, BUT:eek: I need to build a bracket that will hold a larger/heavier load. My first attempt went well, but I'm not done yet.
This first bag holds 16 cans of beer.:D It's 8" in diameter. I'm thinking about a 11" to 13" diameter bag would be more desirable.

Thanks again, Pat O.

Great idea!

You should patent that. Outlets like Kury and Kirk would pick that up in a heartbeat.
