Stock K9 stock shock adjustments

IMG_2236.JPG ok. So I have the stock shocks on my K9 and I think it rides harder than it should. I tried searching for it, but what I found was for aftermarket shocks. Would like some assistance on how to adjust for a softer ride. Hopefully everyone can see the pic of what I am working with. I may have missed it in the search, but any help would be great. If I missed it in the search, a link to he thread would be good too. Thanx.

Thank you very much. Very informative. So based on the other threads that I have read and looking at these instructions, it appears that my shocks are set to the least amount of "give" or the hardest ride. Would this be correct? I am basing this n the amount of threads that are visible.

I have not ever changed mine but it looks like that adjustment only changes ride height (space between tire and fender) not the spring rate.

One of the old ones.
It is important that both shocks be adjusted to the same height. You loosen the (rear one) lock nut, then count the flats that you turn the front one and turn the other shock an identical amount.
You'll notice the rear fender rise or fall, whichever direction you choose. The higher you go the more shock travel you'll have. Many riders prefer to keep the fender 1-2 to 3/4" from the tire, like a Ridgeback, but it isn't usual to see an inch or inch and a half of fender travel between the fender and tire. The lower position of course lowers the bike slightly. I thought my K9 cornered a bit better at a lower setting, but the ride was stiffer.

Ok. Thank you fellas for all the help. I ended up raising Hight a little I will see how that works out. Olde Man, I think you are right though. It seems to only change the hight not the "spring" or "softness" of the ride. Based on me sitting on it, it seems the travel is the same. I suppose I will just need to invest in some better shocks in the future. Thanx again for all the help.
