Is your bike still stock?

Key on, hit run button, hit start button. Should get 12 vdc on green wire from the EHC.
The 02 are different. 2004 was the first year for the EHC electronic harness controller. It gets inputs by low voltage switches going to ground. Then it turns on outputs.

I was able to jump the starter off with a jumper wire going to the 12 volt battery so is that telling me that the starter relay is bad

I don't think a 2004 has a starter relay
Looks like the green wire from the EHC picks up the solenoid on the starter

This verifiies the starter is good.
You need to check the handlebar switches next
If your bike was on and ready to go, when you jumped the starter did it start or not. If it didn't start handlebar switxhes are really the next step,.

Say yes it does. Then run a starter button off the starter motor.

Say it does not start, compression release solenoids are out of the loop doing this. Then the start button also triggers the start solenoids I would assume. Fuck that idea then.

I didn't get that far I just bump it just to see if the starter would go I'll try to see if it will start tomorrow appreciate your feedback brother

I agree with Mike. Power is not making it to the solenoid from the switch. Faulty handlebar pcb probably the culprit.

Assuming the green wire is not broken of course!

Hey y'all 04 Big dog chopper try to start the other day it turned over a couple times and then wouldn't do anything and it still won't push the start button and nothing I've had the battery check it's good I took the starter off had it checked it's good anybody got any similar problems information thanks

Inspect the PCB thoroughly, sometimes the membrane is simply worn out.

Curtis @WSW has replacement boards. I believe some of the members can repair your boards as well.....just a few options..
