Starting Issues

With out the start button being pushed, you will have around 7 volts. That's normal, but when you push the start button, you should have 12 to 13 volts, to work the solenoid. You said you cleaned the solenoid contacts, and you believe the battery is good and charged, the next thing you need to check is the wire connection on the inside of the solenoid housing. Where the wire connects on the outside, look on the inside. There is a soldier joint there. Take a small screw driver and wiggle the wires around. If that joint is broke, you will be able to see it easily.

there is a thread on this, I'll see if I can find it.

I can't find the thread or a picture in my photos, but if you go to the link I sent you earlier, the fifth picture shows the connection I'm talking about.

In the picture below Is the post located by the individuals thumb suppose to show continuity to ground? I would think since the ground wire is attached to the bolt by the drive this bolt should not be grounded. I removed the starter and tested it . I can get motor spin if I press the body the starter against the my battery ground and the bolt (where the guys fore finger is in pic below) to the positive terminal.

Go to any biker bar, find the biggest home bread/beef fed gal in there with lots of tats, buy her a few drinks and have her push start you when you are ready to leave... (you might have to BS you're takin her home with ya but just keep going when ya get it started) always worked for me...

Lol.. I see 4 problems with the suggestion 1) I would need to bring her home to get the bike to the bar 2) the drinks would end up costing me a fortune 3) that's gonna kinda limit my travels 4) How to explain her presence to my wife..but I like the "outside the box" thinking

Does anyone have a suggestion on whereto get the slotted Philips bolts that attache the solenoid assembly to the starter. The 4 that were on mine stripped in removing the solenoid. I tried Curtis but he indicated that if it wasn't on the site then he didn't have them

You talking about those big Phillips screws?

I can't get any of those out. I don't see why you couldn't replace with the same thread and find a chrome flat head cap screw with an Allen that fits.

Check... Www.chromebolts.com and youll see what I'm talking about.

By the way how did you get those screws out? Think I'm going to use a bolt extractor.

The guy who removed the bolts from the solenoid housing to the starter had to drill the heads out after stripping the heads trying to get them out.
