So I tried starting it with video rolling so that you could hear the process. Due to size I will up load in a bit. As BDM Starter motor.JPG
my wife was videotaping she saw smoke coming from the bike as it was trying to turnover (Never did) I stopped and found the sourse of where the smoke was coming from which is that black plug. Any ideas?

No the wire is firmly bolted. The heat coming of the wring bolt was causing the rubber boat to smoke. Is this the starter motor? Cant load visoe as video format is not accepted on this site

I know its probably bolted firmly but is the copper wire partially broken where the crack is, thats coming off the solenoid and going to the starter motor, there's a lot of amperage going thru that wire and if some of the strands are broken then the current will be going thru less strands causing them to get hot.

:hi: Pull the end plate off the solenoid (3 little screws) and see what the plunger ring and the contacts inside look like. Bet ya a nickel they're all cruddy and arced up.:oldwtf: If you pull the plunger out, unhook the battery cable. There is a lot of amps in there and if you bump the wrong thing it'll scare the crap outta ya:oldeek:, not to mention ruining the spring and things.:oldmad: If I can do it, I'm positive you can too!:old2:

Ok I solved the problem..the wire was loose causing the bolt ge red hot enough to melt the rubber to the bolt/wire. When I manually checked it held firm. I removed the wire nut and realized it wasnt on that tight. I cleaned the screw/post and the wire and tightly bolted it on and started right up. Thank you for your suggestions. I have learned a lot from this...

:hi: Knew ya could do it! :old2: Now while you're down there, how about those contacts inside the solenoid? Never hurts to clean them once in a while. :yesnod:

Gently push down on the plastic CR cover until you feel the CR stem then hold there and press the START BUTTON. You should feel the CR stem drop away for only a second or two while the engine does its first few cranks.

You could also pull the green wire off the starter solenoid and take the starter out of the picture, hit start and you should here them clicking and its easier to feel both of them without running the battery down or starting the bike.:old2:
