No the wire is firmly bolted. The heat coming of the wring bolt was causing the rubber boat to smoke. Is this the starter motor? Cant load visoe as video format is not accepted on this site
Pull the end plate off the solenoid (3 little screws) and see what the plunger ring and the contacts inside look like. Bet ya a nickel they're all cruddy and arced up.
If you pull the plunger out, unhook the battery cable. There is a lot of amps in there and if you bump the wrong thing it'll scare the crap outta ya
, not to mention ruining the spring and things.
If I can do it, I'm positive you can too!
Ok I solved the problem..the wire was loose causing the bolt ge red hot enough to melt the rubber to the bolt/wire. When I manually checked it held firm. I removed the wire nut and realized it wasnt on that tight. I cleaned the screw/post and the wire and tightly bolted it on and started right up. Thank you for your suggestions. I have learned a lot from this...
Knew ya could do it!
Now while you're down there, how about those contacts inside the solenoid? Never hurts to clean them once in a while.
I don't believe I would have told that story... I...epoxied my bung...
