Starter Issue??

OK, that really makes some sense! How should I check or replace these? Do I need to take the handles apart? Should I take it into a shop for it? I really appreciate your time, guys!!!!!!

Yeah the handles come apart easily.... but I'm not sure how to tell you to check them... other than to see if the EHC is getting the signal by looking at the lights on the top o f the ehc after you push the said button.

the switch circuit board is a bit tough cause your messing with the throttle cables and the rear magnetic brake switch inside the control. much easier with a second pair of hands.
good advice there - I had mine apart last night and the little brass ferrule on the end of one of the throttle cables dropped inside the bars - slippery little fuckers

Starting problems

Newest developments-
Reordered battery connections as per Kam. Pulled the spark plugs to see if the engine would roll and it did a couple of times. Sometimes, when I depressed the start, I got absolutely nothing, no compression release, nothing. I got a half a crank most of the time. Some times, I just heard the starter engage. I got the engine to roll a couple of times by pulling the plugs. I'm getting 12 V at the starter when I push the start. What the hell is going on??:bang:
I'm not a professional mechanic but I would check the condition of the starter solenoid first by removing it and checkin the contacts condition. Hundreds of amps of current need to pass through these contacts and if they are corroded or burnt then the voltage and current supply to the starter will suffer.

When you tried to start the bike you mentioned sometimes you could hear the starter solenoid kick in - This is good! But when the engine stopped cranking have you ever heard the solenoid release when you released the start button. If the soleniod is not being held engaged then perhaps the start solenoid 12v signal wire is not being kept energized due to upstream weak link problem such as a button switch or too low of voltage.

Batteries can read correctly (12v) but will fail to produce enough cranking current or maintain 12v at cranking. Go get the battery "load checked" after full charge if you haven't already done so. I think the reason for the turn signals blinking afterwards is that if the battery is not in "GOOD" condition, the voltage will drop to a lower than minimum operating voltage "8 volts " for the ECH and other electronics and power drop glitch the electronics to an unknown condition.

Hope this helps! I'll continue watching-

That was the link I was referring to earlier... good tips Sul! What kind of shitty luck did you have to have to get all that expierence?

I figured that... I just notice that when guys like you spout off shit like that... its usually from expierence or knowledge from more expierenced guys... really the latter would be nicer if you know what I mean.

I had the exact same problem with my Bull last year which is an '05 also. Turned out I had oil in the starter which they replaced on a recall and also replaced the circuit boards in the hand controls at the same time also on a recall. water was an issue getting into the old circuit boards when washing up the Toy. I would definitely look at them both either being or will become an issue, so resolve them now before they fail on you out on the road. Welcome to the pound. ....there is an awesome ammount of knowledge from these guys here and they are always ready and willing to help.. So your definitely in good hands here..:2thumbs:

Mine is getting the click in the front part where the motor is (which i am guessing is the compression releases) but nothing else is happening. Battery tests at 12.8 volts and i tried jumping it with no difference. The headlight goes completely dead when I hit the start button and the light on the EHC lights showing the switch is working. Not a peep out of the starter, click, klank or Klunk....

ANY IDEAS?

I forgot to mention i tried also to run wire from battery to where green wire goes into starter...so much as a spark...

Damn...I got a different volt meter and i have 12.8 with the key off...when i turn the key on it goes down to 12.5/12.4....Guess I need to get a battery cause it was on the tender for past two days since I rode last. I think I am understanding it right that it wont even cause the starter to think about turning over without having 12.8V with the key on....Correct? :bang:

Sounds like a weak battery. The drop in voltage was cause it powered up the EHC and all it's components and of course the headlight came on.
But you still need that 12.8 to start it as Sul stated!
