As I said, as long as you are moving, the motor shouldn't get that hot. American v-twins are actually pretty efficient at cooling as long as some air is moving over the engine. Obviously, a motor that has been running is hot, but an excessively hot motor is usually pretty obvious. If it happens when you hit your driveway, I don't think it would immediately get that hot to start causing problems. It makes me wonder if something isn't getting enough oil. Are you lugging your engine during that two miles? Low oil pressure might cause the rockers to start making noise. Another possibility is you might have a lifter going bad.Hey guys. Bike ran great today but as I said before I live on a dirt Rd 2 mi off pavement and everything thing was fine until I hit my driveway and the loud ticking came back as soon as I pulled in. You think it's getting too hot? Will it hurt motor? Plug looks fine
Are running the engine at a very low rpm on your driveway? The accelerator pump wouldn't have much of an impact at small throttle openings when you are doing 20 mph on your driveway. Try to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from. A doctor's stethoscope is a helpful tool, if you can get a hold of one.Idk it's really weird. Runs great when I'm running. I'm doing 15 to 20 mph on the dirt what do you mean lugging?would the accelerater pump screw not turned out enough cause it if it wasn't getting enough fuel. I have it turned out 2.5 turns
I was thinking about everything that you said, and I'm starting to put 2 and 2 together. I think I may have an answer as to what is causing the ticking. Do you know if there has been a cam upgrade on the motor?Ok will do my driveway is like 900 ft long lol so I mean I was good till I got home but I let it cool down and restarted it. Was fine. Thanks for your time and info. I appreciate it
There should be a hose in the bottom of the tank that runs over to the other tank to supply your other tank with fuel. You also have a hose on the top that's an air vent so as the gas drains air can go into the other tank make sure those hoses are connected and not clogged.Hey brand new here!!! I'm confused. I have a 04 pitbull. Split tank. 4.3 gal. But around 55 miles I have to switch to reserve. And when I fill up it's always around 2 gal. I think I'm only using half a tank is their a switch to use the other half of my tank? Lol. Idk. Is it the reserve lever?
