If you have the original big dog speedo, they were known for the wires inside coming unsoldered and it would cause erratic operation or stop working depending on when they made contact or didn't, I agree with the speedo sensor cleaning first but if that doesn't work this is another thing you can try but unfortunately you do have to take apart the entire speedo to find out or at least get to where the wires are to see if they're connected or not which means taking the whole Speedo apart there should be or used to be HOW TO on this site for this because it was so common

If you have the original speedo and cleaning the sender doesn't work, my personal vote would be it's the perfect time to convert to a dakota digital speedo.

I am thinking about converting myself. Any suggestions?
Posted the following on your other thread "Speedometer Replacement"
I changed to Dakota on my 06 K9 like many others on here. Very easy, plug and play and set the odometer. (Not sure what you are referencing as the interface box? You don't need anything else)
Here are the installation instructions:

Is this a plug and play item? My tach has always flashed and no matter how fast the motor turns, only 2 green bars show after reaching a decent speed. Speedo works but the tach is shit

The Dakota Digital is awesome. I just changed to it last week. HOWEVER, this is a speedometer ONLY replacement. The original tach is NOT replaced with this item.

Mine started to blink, then all the green and red lights turned on. Any idea what’s going on?
When I had the speedo can open doing the Dakota Digital Speedometer install I found a bit of corrosion on the tach board. I cleaned that up with some rubbing alcohol and applied some dielectric grease to it to help protect it from further moisture. Havent seemed to have a prob since.

Good Luck!
