speedometer stops responding

You have a weak power up cycle. Are you keeping the bike on a battery tender.
The fix is to have the dealership flash your EHC. Right now it sweeps up to 60 and back when you turn the key on. With everything going on to start the bike it doesn't have enough power to power up the speedo.
So the fix is they flash the EHC and then after the motor starts the speedo does a second power up cycle.

Either way you need to keep it on a battery tender and don't use that enrichener when starting and if you have to turn if off immediately.



I'll be going past your area on the 6th or 7th heading to SLC. Maybe we can hook up for a beer in Twin Falls or there abouts!

Ray I see where you say this works fro the 05-07 what about 08. My 08 just starting doing some weird things this weekend on a ride. It will not cycle but about every 6-10 times of turning the key on and off (if I am lucky). Also when I shut it off it will not go back to 0 it stays between 10-15 mph. As far as telling me how fast I am going it might be half of what I am actually doing if it even gets off the 15 mph mark.

Do any of yall know if the flash will work for the 08's or do I need a new speedo Thanks for the replys and hey I cant complain 9k and only minor issues , just need to get my trip meter working properly so I know when to stop for gas :up:

Oh meant to add, battery alway on tender adn has 12.7v, original battery from BDM.

I would have assumed that your model year would already have the EHC that does this. When you first got it did you notice if the speedo sweeped twice?
You might consider a new battery. 12.7 is on the verge of going out I would think. They take a lot of strain starting up out motors. Mine just went out suddenly in Missoula, MT coming home from Sturgis so replaced it with the HD softail battery. Last one was 1 1/2 yrs old from Daytona last year.

No it would only sweep once, I will call the dealer and see if I can get them to try a flash first.

before I spent bucks in 1, 2, or more speedos, Ill buy the Dakota digital.... looks real badass and have 2 year warranty.

if you re covered by warranty on the speedos, just find a real close dealer, cause it seems youll pay him so many visits.....

anyway, I love this goddamn bikes !!!
