Autometer made them.
It was were very expensive. I'm sure I paid $468 plus brokerage and import fees.
No, Medallion made them. From what I understand they won't even repair them anymore.
AGREE with everything said. :2thumbs: mine does the same thing, just learned to live with it.
Then the one that I have must have been messed with...because it says auto meter inside. I replaced with an auto meter.
The speedo could be fine and the sender or wires could be the problem. When you power ON you should see the calibration number "4xxxx"? in the odometer window and the needle should swing as a RESET. Some program updated EHC's will RESET the speedo again (needle sweep) when you press the START button.Have a 2007 K9 when I start it the speedo needle jumps to about 60 mph, than drops to zero. The needle & odometer do not move when riding. All other functions ok. Looked at connection and looked ok.
Looked inside speedo and seems ok. Any suggestions appreciated. Is it just time of a new one?
Now I must admit that it is completely possible that BD had Autometer knock off the Medallion, as BD was doing that extensively towards the end, but Medallion was making them in the beginning. That could be why they won't service them or repair them now.

Sounds like a loose wire at higher vibration/RPM. Any speedo wire signal/power/ground that has a poor solder joint or plug connection can act strange. These speedos are stepper motor driven instead of the old electric coil type. Then while riding, if I go easy on the revs it works fine, but if I go very fast up on the revs it gets stuck at whatever speed I reached before easing off. Oh well... :loony:
