Speedo issue

Since getting the dog back on the road i have been experiencing a speedometer and odometer problem. My 2005 Mastiff has the in-dashboard arrangement which was a pain in the ass to get out and off the bike, and bummer dealing with hidden screws etc...

Bike has a good tach but speedo and odometer are not working.

I had concluded do to the specific issues i was having that it was likely the speed sensor. I ordered a new OEM sensor, installed it and plugged it in to the harness didn't fix the issue. 100 some odd dollars not needed to be spent?.

Its GOTTA be the speedo itself right?, because its the original and they have been known to have problems over time. 498.00 dollars later same phucking problem. Used the easy to use calibration provided by autometer, the process responded per the instructions (Push button, turn key, hold until needle goes to 100, push again, drive 2 miles etc...)
I have unplugged the harness that runs power to the plug for the speed sensor. I have 12.45 volts on the red, continuity on the black.
I have read some methods to test the the output of the speed sensor with the wheel off he ground and a multimeter.., my question is with all the wires nicely connected inside the connectors, without cutting the green wire how can you get a good reading when the meter probes wont go into the closed connector.
You know- when you start replacing components in a system the bill runs high fast- I am gonna be seriously miffed if i am able to check that sensor and it was sent to me bad, which would mean i bought a new speedo when i didnt need too.
If the bike had a gawd damn fuel gauge i wouldnt give a shit- but without having any odometer reading to track your mileage, you're looking to be pushing that sum-bitch.
Just wanna get it fixed WTF
