Just curious what make of plugs everyone is using. I currently have champion ra8ha. Would invest in some higher quality ones.

Done that. Most are dead end links. Don't really want to search through 5 million posts. Bike is running off one for the 1st 30sec till it warms up. Just put in a new coil and wires. Wondering which plugs to match them with

Oh right, yes... since the software update we lost all old links.... the threads are there but the links to them do not work anymore....

Standby.... can´t remember the model number for the NGK.... will find out for you

Champion plugs, $1.50 ea and put a new set in every year or in my case when I change the oil, which is every year. This year I'll be lucky if I get 1K miles on it. I've been grounded for a couple months.

spark plugs are very seldom the problem of poor running.
If new plugs make it better , find out what is causing the plugs to fail .

Bad fuel mixture is the usual culprit, followed by bad fuel flow to the carb, or fuel injection.
air cleaners, manifold leaks, wrong exhaust. are next in line .
timing is very seldom off , (unless it is screwed with ) .

Original plugs in my pitbull ( over 6K)
18K on the Fatboy original
20+k on the sporty ( one change when I broke one).
All are v-twins

As stated in my earlier post, I want to run new plugs with my new coil and wires.

Well, with the new dynatek coil, thunder volt wires and ngk iridium's k9's running better than ever. Both heads were running off the start. Throttle seemed more responsive too.

I just got done battling a few things one of them was related to rear cylinder bad plug... At the end of it all, while the plugs made a big difference, I chose the E3's, it still wasn't 100%... From there I had the injectors cleaned, at idle the rear one was plugged up pretty good, the intake manifold was also a mess, which in turn also turned the IAC into a mess too which affected the idle and Off Idle Throttle response... After cleaning the injectors, IAC, intake manifold, new plugs, it's running way better...

Not completely sure yet since I haven't ridden it but just in the garage it seems like a different machine. My front plug was considerably darker than the back. I'm sure the coil or wire was to blame. Going to watch the plugs for the next month or so

Before I tune a bike, I need to chase the compression of each cylinder. I might read a low compression plug and it's sooty; thinking I need to rejet. However, I have no kinetic helping that fire off, it runs rich and the unspent is not fully burned, but goes black on my porcelain tip.

Best tip going is post #17
