I have had 2 accidents. Both on sportbikes.
1st one put me in the hospital and was pretty beat up. I lost control of the bike on a off ramp and hit the guard rail. Ended up unconscious and tore my right tricep also had a bunch of road rash on my back and shoulders that hurt like hell when they scrubbed the rocks out of my skin. That was in 2002

Shit could happen in a biker life.
With twenty years I met a pony in the night.Comes out of a Pop field - no way to escape.Pony killed-Bike destroyed- Iam out of order for some weeks.
In 1986 I lost road in a hard bend. Dont remember what hapenned. Think to fast and alc was the mistake.(750 three cylinder two stroke Kawasaki) Broken Bones, a destroyed leg and a lot to sew was the result on me.
Used a good Fiber Glass Helmet in this time - Helmet was broken by accident, but think he save my head very good.
Six months later I leaved hospital, could not work for One and a Half Year. Was a hard time. In 1988 I made my driver license for car - before only drive Motocycle.Street bike in summer - In Winter XT 500 (enduro) was my favor.
With the collateral damages of this accident I have to fight the rest of my life.
No reclamation - my mistake - I have to pay for my error.
Bike riding was and is a big part of my life.
Enjoy ride with my pit bull - Ride slower and saver - changed my drive style. But we all know that we are not alone on the road and shit could happen every day.
Minimize risks and use good outfit is the best Tip.

I've been lucky -- been down a few times and escaped with only minor injuries -- not even a trip to the hospital, but in hindsight I should have after the last accident. Rode home after nailing a vette that made an illegal lane change into my lane, hit the back quarter panel, then he accelerated so I went down. Was sore and bruised -- didn't realize how bad til I finally got home and could barely get off the bike and could barely walk - shoulder was banged up and so was opposite side knee -- couldn't even use a walker or crutches -- no good way to distribute weight for a couple/three days -- then sore as hell for long while - at least it was at the end of the riding season.

Been down twice. Once when I was a pre-teen, the throttle stuck on a Honda 50 as I was making a u-turn on a mountain road. The barb-wire fence attached to the tree I hit kept me from dropping over 100 feet into a valley. The next time was also on a Honda, but much bigger and faster. Some friends at the local bar wanted to see my CBR1100XX. I was at full throttle, which means rear tire spinning and front end off the ground at the same time at about 80mph preparing to shift into 2nd gear, when an oblivious crackhead stepped into the road in front of me. I saw him standing in the median before I took off, and I thought he was just watching. Given the choice between hitting someone head-on at 80, which would have likely killed both of us, or violently swerving around him, I chose to swerve. However, trying to turn with no front wheel traction and limited rear wheel traction resulted in sliding my ass down the road . Luckily, I only have the scar on my left knee and some joint aches when the weather changes to show for it.

Never been down on the street, only while racing, worst was a high side on half mile dirt track while racing a Harley XR750. Broke my collarbone in seven places.

Well I have thankfully never been down on the street but had some close calls, but, (like Dentdude), I've been down my fair share in my 14 total years of quad motocross, 3 years in the pro class. My last wreck damaged my back and other breaks and bruises and put me out for a couple months. My engine locked up just as I left the ground on a 90 foot up hill table top, 4th gear pinned, it endo'd on me. I decided to focus on my education after that. From dislocated shoulders to broken bones with the fun of concussions and internal bleeding, I still love motocross.

Only on dirt bikes. The two worst times. Once at about age 12 riding in some wooded trails going around a blind corner and hit another bike head on. I flew over the bars and hit a tree then hit the ground. The other guy was fine but his bike was leaking oil from a hole in the crank casing. I had thought I broke my leg it hurt so bad. I rode the bike home with a flat tire a bent rim and a bent foot peg. My left thigh was bruised from knee to butt.

The other time I hit a dog on a grave rode at about age 15. As I was rolling and flipping on the ground I caught a glimpse of the bike a few times and it was doing the same thing. After me and the bike was reunited I realized I had broken my right collar bone as I was trying to pick the bike up off the side of the rode but I managed to ride it home. I set my own collar bone in front of the bathroom mirror by lifting up on the counter top. It hurt like hell when it went back in place. The Doc use a scrub brush to get the grave out of my forearm and put me in a shoulder sling and said wear it for three weeks. I wore it for a day.

45 mph low side/high side attempting to avoid texting/driving woman running a stop light.
Foot pinned under rear brake pedal by highway bar bending around on the low side, couldn't kick free.
Barrel rolled six times on the high side.
Never came off the bike.
11 fractures.
My vest and long-sleeved t-shirt torn completely off me resulting in massive road rash on 105° sunbaked asphalt.
No helmet.
My DOT approved do-rag saved me.
(Not really... Luck did)

Removed bent highway bars, zip tied rear turn signal light bar on, pulled rear fender away from rear tire by hand... Rode bike off wrecker impound lot.

Riding/racing since I was 5, 4 years of Road Racing, yes, I walk like Bill mentioned.... Still love to ride and rather look forward to awesome trips than think about the pain it took to learn.... BTW, anybody know the speed of the "Worlds fastest BDM" ? Just thought I get myself another project....

From my modest experience it is not K9, handling over 115mph is more art than science
I have been lucky, sure I have been down a few times, road and motocross. Knees are bit loose, worst I had was when my old (-72) Kawasaki 500 triple went all bronco mood on full speed, full tank slapper throw me like a fly from the bike. Landing fucked my right shoulder rather bad. Was in cast after the operation (I think they called it an airplane cast) from waist to neck for a 2 months. Couldn't rise my right hand over my head for about 20 years (good excuse for skinny arms) now when shoulder gave a way again few years ago, they managed to fix it better! Finally my right arm works without pain and I can lift it! Like Viking says, life is good!

Looking forward to retirement
From riding motocross to street. I have gone down on dirt but always walked away. On street have not gone down but nearly run over. Was entering on on ramp then the other lane the Yeld lane. The Mercedies kept coming causing me to slam on ALL the breaks. Kept the bike up but this caused another issue it put me streight up in a curved clover leaf on ramp. I held fast went behind the Mercedies and off tossing down the clover covered in field!!! Ice has more traction than clover!!!! This was back when I was on my HD Lowrider. Kept it up but had to change under wear! Really should have kept that bike! Fucker was Ausome!!! That's Colleen back in 2002 Sturgismotorcyclerally sitting on it.IMG_2817.JPG

I was in a group of fifteen, third in line. An eight point buck ran out of bush by road and I hit it with my right side highway bar and my right leg. I had braked and swerved left right before I hit it. It was a miracle I didn't go down. I looked back and it was rolling on shoulder then got up and ran off. I am very lucky. I have had numerous close calls over thirty years but never have gone down.

FREEDOM!!!
I'm still alive. Had some bad ones, all drunk. Should be dead but I'm not. Stopped drinking and riding and haven't had an accident since.
