Been down twice. Once when I was a pre-teen, the throttle stuck on a Honda 50 as I was making a u-turn on a mountain road. The barb-wire fence attached to the tree I hit kept me from dropping over 100 feet into a valley. The next time was also on a Honda, but much bigger and faster. Some friends at the local bar wanted to see my CBR1100XX. I was at full throttle, which means rear tire spinning and front end off the ground at the same time at about 80mph preparing to shift into 2nd gear, when an oblivious crackhead stepped into the road in front of me. I saw him standing in the median before I took off, and I thought he was just watching. Given the choice between hitting someone head-on at 80, which would have likely killed both of us, or violently swerving around him, I chose to swerve. However, trying to turn with no front wheel traction and limited rear wheel traction resulted in sliding my ass down the road . Luckily, I only have the scar on my left knee and some joint aches when the weather changes to show for it.
