I've made a sizable left-side sac that clears the frame and tag. It uses original mounting holes (kickstand & fender strut bracket). Quality leather work that has become very usefull and looks decent. Be sending pics soon. FergDog (2005 Ridgeback)

Might as well hang a "Rifle Scabbard" on your bike! In my humble opinion these all make the bike look "unbalanced if only on one side AND most not big enough to haul much in.
I think Tim and Raywood have the right idea. Just put your luggage/bags/backpack on the sissy bar where they are balanced and easy on easy off.
I have a $5 thrift store leather rolling luggage (suitcase) bag that I hang on my chopper (will take a pic of it and post and it doesn't look half bad).

I like that. I wonder if it scratches anything.

"mine are made also to be stiffer. i don't like a droopy bag."

Nothing worse than pounded down the road and having your droopy bag slapp'in the inside of your leg... Or worse, your exhaust if you really have a bad droppy bag.

Looks like it can hold a 6 pack of long necks on ice or a 12 pack of cans

Not for me, if I have to carry more I throw on a backpack.....
I put a back pack on my sissy bar and call it a day. May not be the prettiest thing but it's easy to pull off.

Doesn't scratch a thing. Fabbed a lightweight aluminum backplate along with a lower bracket and spacer to keep it off the frame. I call it my grocery sac. Gotta tell ya the dog doesn't notice any unbalancing from the bag.
