New to Texas anyone recommend a good shop for my 06 k9? Needing fluids changed and if its not a video im just no good ive given up lol! I know strokers but have herd mixed reviews

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
Talk to Gene (214-357-0707) in the shop at Stroker's. You'll never please all of the people all of the time, but I cannot imagine Stroker's having any significant numbers of worthy complaints. One time I had a problem with my front fork (bolt backed out)--Gene happened to be having a beer in the Ice House and opened the shop at 10 at night to fix it.
And for routine maintenance, you have no worries at all. They are the best.

Where in Dallas are you? I thought you were out near Fort Worth, yes?

Anyways, for a basic fluid change I understand people who don't want to get your hands dirty or may just not have the time and that's OKAY. However, if its a non-urgent fluid change I don't mind walking you through it in person if we can get a day that works for both of us. I'll just take a couple Coors Lights in exchange for the supervision.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

If you are interested in learning I'd be glad to help. Again I Understand 110% if your either not interested or don't have the time. Sometimes I wish I could trust other people so I'm not always the one to fix everything...anyways!

You are not too far. I'll let you know if I can this weekend I'm waiting on a delivery for new flooring and doors for the house and need to start it if it comes in.

In the meantime do you have a bike lift and a small mechanic set? Don't need much to do an oil change. Mostly just Allen wrenches.

When was the last time it was done do you need to change the transmission fluid? Its not a big deal just need to make sure you got the oil.

Probably cost you about $80-$100 for everything. Shop cost will probably be $300 I'd be bet with labor rates. So you'll save a few Benjamin's doing it yourself.

You need -

Funnel and oil pan
4 Quarts Mobil-1 20w50
1 Quart BDM TrickShift (ATF Fluid)
1 K&N 170c Oil Filter
1 QT 75w-140 Gear Oil. (Baker recommends Spectro) can use BelRay or Redline ShockProof

I know the dog is down but other than Daytona do you gentlemen have any upcoming trips planned?

I started Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance . So far interesting read and the author has quite the writing style. Motorcycle maintence meets Greek mythology! Anyways it made me realize yesterday on my ride after doing the fork seals, bearings, and tire Change its awfully comforting to know exactly what my axle is torqued to 45 ftlbs, pinch bolts at 12, 16 for triple trees, 50 lbs on the fork caps, and 25 with red on the brake caliper

Yup Eric. As they say, when you get intimate with your bike like that, you KNOW what has been done and how.

As for Strokers, I agree, they are a great group of folks. Gene has helped me out a couple of times too. Last time was when I did my fork seals :old2:
