This is almost exactly what I did to ship my GS1395 (yeah I know, but it quenches my need for speed) motor to Arizona, and it was returned the same way and is in excellent condition. I used bolts everywhere and hinges on the sides so they will drop down for easy access to the engine bolts that secured the motor to the bottom of crate.not done it before, but i would say to bolt it to some lengths of 2x4 longer than the overall length of the motor from front cylinder to back cylinder and then build a plywood box around that. don't skimp, and then fill it with sheets of styrofoam. make one side completely removable and use screws instead of nails
