I would pull the lower control apart first and grease it up check bushings etc. At that point you could also pull off your shifting rod and lube up the heim joints. If you cannot get the heim joints to move then replace um.

Busting knuckles on Mopars lol

The Heims aren't pictured. They are on both ends of the shifter rod / linkage. The front attaches to # 77. The rod runs above the primary back to the transmission.

Great, Thanks for all the information. Bigdog Dealer in St. Louis replaced the Heims for $14.00. Still had the problem. I took the shifter assembly apart and greased it. It took about a half hour. The illustration really helped. At least it gave me the confidence to tear in to it. If you do it your self just dont loose the little pins the have in the assy to keep it from rotating.

I don't know if this fixed it yet; I'll let you know after the next ride. It seemed to happen more after the engine got hot but maybe that was a coincidence??

Thanks again

start a new thread and lets see your real muscle cars that used to prowl the streets:2thumbs:

When I had the assy taken apart I noticed item 58 from the illustration inside diameter was coated with what I'm guessing is telflon. I'm wondering if that part also siezes up like the teflon coated stock Hiem joints and causes problems with heat. The bearing surfaces were all dry and caked with what looked like caked grease or dirt. It was completely dry as a bone. I put a thin coat of water proof bearing grease on it.

Hope the grease helps??

i had same issue with mine. I put a towel around the heim joints to protect metal and lubed with PB blaster and have not had an issue and have put 1000 miles on it since i done that. If you have a local race shop that builds sprints etc. they can usually match the heim joints you have too and it could be a lil cheaper
