Sheared Primary Vent Bolt

Ever broken off the primary vent screen bolt?

While installing my primary vent screen I tightened it a little to much and sheared it right off with most the bolt still inside the primary. Found an easy fix to getting this out. Take a #2 allen wrench, slide it in and slowly spin out the rest of the bolt. Worked like a charm!

Damn, at least it's an easy fix. Did you put a lot of torque on the bolt when it sheared?

it probably only takes about 15-20 to shear it off. super thin hollow bolt with almost nothing for a shoulder.

Barley any torque at all. I think the manual calls for 10-20 in lbs but wouldn't suggest using a torque wrench and just add a little loctite. Hell, I was just trying to snug it up a little and then the "oh shit factor" came in! Now just need to find a replacement now:>)

I did the same thing and just used an easyout
Unfortunately I didn't have an easy out and had to manage with what I had on hand, lol. Either way it worked! And by the way...DO NOT ride without this vent installed or you will have a trail of fluid behind you! Don't ask me how I know ;>)
