Just pay someone else to do it. Its definitely a headache and overrated. A dirty bike can run just as good as a clean one. lol.Reminds me of a friend of mine. Hes died now but I knew a man named Steve (aka Birdman). I met him years ago in Lake Lure NC, he was the owner operator of a lake side bar/ grill called Margarita grill. He was driving up on an old pan head touring bike late 70's model carrying 15, 20 lb bags of ice because his ice machine was broke. Not only was there ice everywhere on his bike, but between the handbars was another bar with a solid white bird on it. It wasn't chained or strapped on it was standing there on its own free will right behind a windshield. the birds name is Sabrina (side note she has her own facebook page Sabrina the riding bird or something like that.) but after the ice was removed I noticed this guys bike was filthy. Covered in bird shit. And I remember someone yelling that is he washed his bike and removed the bird shit the bike would come apart. I got to be friends with steve, even was invited to his wedding. They called his bike the beast. Steve didn't own a car, he rode that bike everywhere alone with Sabrina. I later found out his bike had over 150, 000 miles on it. And I remember on his wedding day his wife gave him a new motorcycle, 2004 road king, the following week he washed the beast for the first time in 17 years. 2 days later the motor blew. True story Steve the Birdman was a local legend. He was well known in the Carolinas, Tenn, Ga, pretty much east coast. Only man I knew to wear a kilt and ride in one too year round.

Moral of my story just leave the shit alone....

Ok Here is what I use. It's made here in Broken Arrow Oklahoma. The information is on the bottle (picture). I us Skidmore's for the leather, this is the best leather conditioner on the market. I use a new aluminum polish that I got from from a shop in Oklahoma City, Its Called Elite Metal Polishing. This is the best metal polish that I have found, bit pricy 24 bucks for 4 once. But it goes a long way. I have completely done my bike and then four aluminum wheels on my 76 Vette. I cannot see where that I have used any of the polish. When you get thru the aluminum will look like chrome. I have pictures. On the engine shot the only chrome is the pushrod tubes. the rest is polished aluminum. Also on the Fat Bob's don't let it dry. You can apply the wax then you pick up your micro-fiber towel and wipe to a lister. This stuff is magic. After polishing my chrome I apply coat of Fat Bob's and the chrome just kicks. I'll up load three pictures at at time.. I like simple stuff and these three products make my life so much easier. (I use the Fat Bob's to repel water on my back window on my pickup).IMG_3927.jpegIMG_3927.jpegIMG_3928.jpegIMG_3928.jpegIMG_3931.jpeg

Hay Billy, I use an old sock that had developed a blowout to be my applicator. I wet an area and then I can do the complete side and center of the wheel for one side. Then just a little more wetting of the polish and then the complete wheel is done. Same for the rear wheel. This stuff just blows me away with the shine that I'm able to get, I was a Mothers fan for years if not decades until this came along. My back wheel was shiny but on the gray side, I could never get the shine to pop like chrome until I used the polish from Elite Metal Polishing. I don't get paid from them or do I have a association with them other than purchasing their polish. Just to let everyone know. Also from my own photo I need to order a new gas cap, I didn't know that it was that bad looking!!!

A side note, I don't know why it doubles my photos when I upload them. I deleted them three times before I said the hell with it, two of each is what we get... Then when I uploaded my photos of the wheels and bike I get only one... Go figure!!!

That should get you to the order page... It was hard for me to find at first. I was just poking around on their site and found it and thought what the hell, if it is anywhere near what that claim it might be worth it.. It was worth it...

I am in Bixby. But my machine shop is in Broken Arrow. Back when I was building my 76 Vette I used Sparks Platting in Haskell. I just took a good ride there last week. I needed to ride and get away from the house.. We aught to get together and do a ride to lunch. You can PM me if you are interested.. The Best Burrito's are from a roach coach on 41st Street between Mingo and Garnette, but right across from Reasor's..

Ok if you have a polished engine and having issues with keeping you engine looking good, this is what I did. I took a cheap electric fish fillet knife cut off the blades on both blades and rounded the ends drilled two holes and mounted a paint stick to the stub that fits into the knife handle. Wrap a rag around the paint stick and apply polish and insert into the cooling fins and let the vibrating motion of the knife polish between the cooling fins and you get a great finish...

OH Cool Someone did a YouTube of doing the same thing.. Like the video. Wish I had found it before I started trying to figure things out.. It works like a champ... Thank you for sharing the video... It beats trying to rub back and forth with a paint stick and rag...

I will pitch in on this ! get your self a polisher that vibrates only , no circular polisher for you newbee ! you might spend a little more bucks but your go to should be Meguiars ! I wont go on but being from the commercial side of polishing its the best on the market , full of UV protection over time ! ya have to spend to get the best ! all I am saying ! Never hold your polisher in one place for more then 15 seconds or you burn clear coat ! From factory BD has applied like ten coats so you have some room ! but dont be a burn LOL have fun I do !
