thanks for the heads up , as the liner goes away , I assume the tank will still
hold gas ??
I do have a large filter just after the petcock, and the petcock has a screen ..

btw the cx500 only has 28K and is a parts go-getter
( IT never needs any heh) )
you'll know if it's peeling by looking inside the tank with a flashlight. it is plastic looking stuff- it will clog up anything. tank may or may not leak without a liner- these Big Dog tanks were all hand made and have a lot of welds / bondo. welds are usually rather porous and would at least seep gas vapor / cause paint to bubble and lift. there are places that can strip and re-line the tank for a couple hundred bucks and without harming the paint job. or you can "DIY" but I have to warn you it is a messy, toxic, labor intensive process. if the tank is not cleaned properly the new liner will also fail. I love DIY but this is a process I would happily pay to have done if needed. (and yes I had mine done- was peeling- tried DIY - paid to have it professionally done)

Anyway just keep an eye on it- it will peel eventually, they all do.

first ride.

attended Patriot guard mission today on the Pitbull.:flag:
got a lot of attention at the meeting. (looks real good)

Ran fine except noticed belt rubbing tire.( got shim the rear pulley out a bit ).
funny that stock tire Avon 180 would rub ..?? design /mfr..??

after that went to get it State inspected.
No rear reflector(Texas law ) quick trip to hardware store for reflective tape .

Got the sticker..

edit. pulled rear tire , never had a scoot that you had to disconnect the rear caliper brake line because it wont come off the wheel??
It was "leave it on the rotor", or disassemble the caliper", or pull the rotor ""
What did I miss ???

wow , used bike syndrome.
4600 miles on bike , and rear brakes are toast..
one of the previous owner must have had their foot on the brake at all
times.
.
brake pad's on order....(btw fronts are like new ).....go-figger .
:whoop:

well ,another day another fix.
the Dakota oil temp gauge was showing "error code"
Found the sender in the bottom of oil cooler, .
the clamp's went around the mfr "decal" resulting in no "ground to the sender.
scratched it and trapped a piece of ss wire in it ..
viola !!! guage works fine

hello everyone as for saving a pitbull, I have two of them that i'm trying to save. one is a 98 & the other is a 99. now here's the fun part; they are 1 year apart as well as 1 number apart on the vin . as well as basically the same paint scheme. is that coincedence or just fate to be blessed with such animals? Praying to get them running to make Sturgis this year & to visit family in Nebraska come summertime. Hope to see ya'll out there somewhere & thank you for saving the BIG DOG brand!!!!
