RSD vs LSD

Just look around some for a week or so and you will find a whole lot of newer bikes with the RSD that are going reasonable. A lot of good people are laid off right now and out of work and really need to sell them.

Well I think the biggest driving point from LSD to RSD was the every increasing width of the back tires. LSD did not seem to be bad at all until the rear tire got so fat that with the offset, LSD became bigger problem, so with requiring a jack-shaft to adapt. RSD brought it back to a good balance with the wide tires.

Yours being a 03, should not be that noticable, but if it had a 300, would be a major problem.

Good luck with what every way you go and welcome to the site.

prolly wouldnt be much different than a newer harley with the wider tires they are putting on??? go take one for a test ride and then go test ride a newer dog!!!

a 03 BD Chopper with 11k miles....$12500 but I think theres some room to negotiate!

(this guy is a wholesaler that has opened up to the public because of the economy)
It's prolly gonna piss off anyone that has an 03 that thinks their bike is worth a ton, but to me, a 7 year old bike, with 11k miles, from a wholesaler that doesn't know JACK about it isn't worth $12500. We all think our bikes are worth more than they are, including me, but I'd be scared of that bike, at that price. KBB Retail on that bike is like $14k, but I've seen tons of 06-07 K-9's sell in the $14-15k range. I'd probably give about $10k max for it. Also, if you plan the finance make sure your bank will finance something older than 5 years old.

THANKS for ALL THE ADVICE...

Im going to keep my options open....Im TRYING not to make any spur of the moment decisions...I want a damn bike.

Im going to keep looking......ECONOMY+CASH IN MY FREAKING POCKET=GOOD PRICE! (I hope)

That Phx BD for $17k is HIGH.....maybe Ill shoot him an email....but I dont want to pay that. There's a 07 K9 also in Phx for that.

I tried out an 04 LSD before I bought my new RSD 07 K9.

I really didn't like the LSD. Going around left hand corners it felt like it was going to fall over. It felt like there was a fifty pound weight hanging on the left side! Right corners took a lot more effort.

I messaged this guy...I take he's posting for someone else but says the guy has to get $16.5 to just get out of his loan. I guess he'll be keepin it at that price.
I was wondering what he'd take for it. I knew the price was a little high, but was hoping he would cut a good deal since he listed 'make offer'.

That's not your problem, the market will bring what it's worth. If he has to come to the table then so be it. I'd watch it for a couple weeks and he may change his tune.

yeah I understand his dilema....Ive been there on a few cars before. I just had to either buy my way out of it or just hold on till the price stabilized.

Sucks, but thats the way it is..

Im still on the hunt...the 05 I was looking at is supposed to change hands today, I hoping to hear from the guy saying the other guy couldnt come through or something.

I own an 03 Chopper. I bought it new. I can afford to buy a newer K9 and believe me I have been tempted more than once...........I will say, what I like about this older model, is I'm not stuck buying accessories like mirrors, pipes, pegs, etc from BDM.....aftermarket parts for Harley Softails work fine. RSD or LSD makes little difference other than the 330 tired scoots setting side by side my 03 Chop seems wimpy. :D

I've been riding 40yrs myself. You must be an old guy also. (old guys rule) I think a RSD would sell better when he gets ready to upgrade.
I'm 44 (45 in May)

started on a 3hp mini-bike at 4, had a motorcycle every year of my life since..........

The RSD drives were brought out because of women riders, LSD still remains a man's bike:roll: I tried both before I bought my LSD and for me the only difference was pulling it off the kickstand. I heard the figure was LSD have a 2% lean factor against the 0% on RSD but take that for what its worth. One nice thing about the LSD drive bikes is no proprietary driveline to worry about.

I'm like alhall... I have LSD and it's not a big deal....Balanced drive ?? I just pack my 45cal. on my right side. "old school"

When I was lookin to get rid of the rice burner and step up to an American V-Twin. I did a lot of reading about LSD and RSD, because I was thinking about buying a custom. I got a very good deal on the 04 Mastiff and I wondered at first what the LSD would be like. It took more getting used to the forward controls than the LSD in all honesty. It really doesn't bother me other than she's a little heavy on the kickstand, but I ain't so old I can't get it off the stand yet. God put me in my grave the day I can't too.
