RSD vs LSD

DrtyJack75

Doin' it Doggie Style!
Hey guys, like Ive put in previous posts...Im just coming over to BDs or Choppers for that matter...Ive only ridden sport bikes so this RSD vs. LSD has never been a problem for me.

How bad is it?

The 05 I was looking at sold and the 03 Im looking at just concerns me....

For the guys with the older bikes, is it a big deal. I read a article on Baker site that describes it at "Halfassed" because you have to sit with half your ass off the seat...lol

What do yall think?

a 03 BD Chopper with 11k miles....$12500 but I think theres some room to negotiate!

2003 Big Dog Chopper softail

(this guy is a wholesaler that has opened up to the public because of the economy)

Thanks again,

Ricky J

I cant wait for the post that I can say HEY GUYS THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND THIS IS WHAT I BOUGHT!!

id say most noticeable sittin still. although i do sit lil to right side when riding. Right side drive bikes are certainly more balanced . .. but i ride the hell outa my left side drive !

It's annoying and I can't believe they ever made them that way. A bike should be balanced. Find an 05 and up or an older Bulldog that was RSD.

I honestly never noticed any difference with the LSD.

Try riding both a LSD and a RSD, see what one feels better to you. If you ride the LSD and find it uncomfortable, then its not for you. :zz2cents:

I agree with Vegas..

Although I've never taken a LSD for a ride I have sat on them and you will notice that it'll tend to lean left....

Maybe some aren't quite as bad as the 03 Chopper I had. It's worse at slow speed but really annoyed me in the sweepers. It handled so much different from left to right sweepers. That kind of shit really annoys me because I know it's poor engineering. I'm a perfectionist with performance so you may want to omit my posts.

Step up to the 21st century, :bang: buy a bike with right side drive. Take advantage of the BAD economy, be patent a GREAT deal will come around. On the flip side of that coin, Spring is just around the corner:cheers::cheers:

The RSD drives were brought out because of women riders, LSD still remains a man's bike:roll: I tried both before I bought my LSD and for me the only difference was pulling it off the kickstand. I heard the figure was LSD have a 2% lean factor against the 0% on RSD but take that for what its worth. One nice thing about the LSD drive bikes is no proprietary driveline to worry about.

I still have this bike, an 04 Bulldog, with 10,600mi on it I would take $13.500. (right side drive) They made alot of changes in 04.

RSD came about because companies wanted to see how fat-assed they could make a motorcycle that could still turn.

I've ridden both, difference, slight at best. But I've been riding for 40 years.........

I've been riding 40yrs myself. You must be an old guy also. (old guys rule) I think a RSD would sell better when he gets ready to upgrade.

I don't notice any handling issues at all with my LSD.

And I agree with alhall88 "One nice thing about the LSD drive bikes is no proprietary driveline to worry about."

On my lsd bike you can notice it turns easier left than right(right takes a little more pressure). I put a open primary on and it is much more balanced. Handles alot better also. Hey Al did you notice that with yours also. If I am not mistaken I think my open primary was almost 25 lbs lighter than the stock primary.

I actually weighed the 2 primarys and mine was 11 lbs. lighter but your right the belt drive was a great improvement.

I don't really think there is much noticeable difference! I own an 03 Chopper LSD and have ridden RSD bikes and really don't think there is any noticeable difference. Hell I choose my 03 (bought used) over a newer RSD!
