Used to have a Ridgeback which I had to sell and looking to get another bike and I'm split between those 2. Looking for opinion on each and common problems that I can experience.
Thanks

I own a ridgeback love it! Sometimes I wish I had a softtail for long hauls thats why I have already come to the conclusion you aint doing it right if you don't have both.

I WILL have a K9 in my garage someday...just not sure when :job: There sure is a couple nice looking 05 Chops for sale right now on the forum and I have been drooling over them, but I am really interested in having a 300 rear.

I used to have a 08 Ridge back now I have the K9. I really liked the ridged but now that I have a K9 I wouldn't go back. I can put a lot more miles on this one.

As I think they look almost identical and a likely very similar mechanically, it's all about the feel of the soft vs. hard tail. I'm 46 and have had back issues but the hardtail on my '07 pitbull doesn't bother me. Sure, it'll jar you a little bit from time to time, but not at all a deal breaker. I guess the question is did you sell the R/B due to back issues? If so, no question go K9. I have had soft and hard tails and like them both. Damn, I'm a lot of help, ain't I? Don't know how old you are, but if you're 50+, give a little more considerartion to the soft tail. If you're younger, pick the one that looks better to you. Whichever you choose will still be a Big Dog. A very nice problem to have

Whichever you choose, get some pics up here :) Best of luck with your decision.

Just got my Ridgeback and love it! But for long hauls I agree go with the softail! I am 46 and fighting that get old thing so I still love my bar hopper I call it but for a hardtail it rides really nice! But if your going to do alot of long rides go for the K-9 and enjoyi your Big Dog!

I was torn too when looking to buy, went ahead with the K9 with shocks since I planned to take the Mrs along alot. I love my bike and the ride and so does she, never rode a RB but would like to someday. Well hell I'd like to ride a Wolf, a Mastiff, a Cyote, a Pitbull, etc etc etc......

If you are physically fit & don't have a bad back, get a ridgeback with a 330 back tire.

I have both the ridged and softail and with some of the roads we have here I can say at times the ridged will kill the kidneys. Ive put some serious miles (650) per ride on the softail. I'm not sure if my back or kidneys could handle that many miles per ride on the ridge. If you're planning on taking some long rides, especially on not the best roads, I would suggest the softail. I've also noticed that after riding the ridged for extended periods of time, i tend to be a little more tired than when riding the softail. Not sure if this helps or not. Good luck with your decision, either way you'll be a winner... :D :2thumbs:

Not related to the ride of either, but Brew, just looking at the national weather, you guys have had some good riding weather the last couple months.

Depends what kind of riding you want to do.
Bar hoping around town or do you actually want to get out and ride?
If you want to see something besides city streets and buildings, get the K 9

Very true PK. Been getting a lot of seat time in this year! Rain or shine you have to adapt here...:D

Ok, sorry to tell it like it is but Ridgebacks aren't just for bar hopping. I can ride mine just as far as any soft tail.
