any expearmenting with rear tire pressure? anyone find the magic pressure for grip and comfort??

30 to 32 in mine seems to work the best, front and rear

The book for the 05 at least says 40 in the front, and 42 in the back. I follow the factory recommended pressure.

Yeah, I'm with reaper. I do 40 front, 42 back as is recommended.

My last rear tire only lasted 6,000 miles. The guy I bought it from was running 20 in the rear and the tire was already looking worn (only had 2,000 miles at the time! ). Plus, it made the tire oblong. I pumped it back up to 42 and it lasted another 4,000 (and that was pushing it).

For me there isn't a noticeable difference between 20 and 42. Except that 42 will save you the hassle and $$$ of changing a tire every 3,000 miles. :zz2cents:

I called Avon when I bought my bike and they said on the 250 and 300 tires, with a single person on the bike a minimum of 26 lbs. is needed to not cause weird tire wear. I Run 30-32 lbs. for the Wife and I on the bike and has worked out great.

Doesn't matter if its your car, truck, boat trailer, RV or motorcycle. I would stay close to the factory recommendations. They've already tried all the combinations. You'll get more milage and even wear from your tires.

Run 38 in both, no problems so far with 6000 miles on the tires and wearing fine.

I myself run 32 rear 35 front. But if you dont know what you want to run I would stick to 40/40.
My tires have 12 thou on them. Im about due on rear for new one. Burning out at red lights could probably be the cause for that.

If it where me I would run 5 to 10 under but keep a very close eye on it depending on air temp, also watch the wear!!!!!
Check it on every ride!!!

I keep it at factory recommended air pressure ... got 13,500 on the front and 9500 on the rear ... had to change out the rear for a nail at 4000 miles!!! Tread on the rear looks good ... front with 13.5k miles looks like I need to change it a few thousand miles from now ... fyi ... my clutch will need to be change out ... early 05's clutch carrier seems to be taking a dump ... !!!!:angry: :bang:
