Ride height / passanger fender rubbing

Energy One
Hi all,

I have a small issue with my 05 Chopper, when I ride 2 up the bolt on the right rear signal light rubs the tire. I'm not sure why but there is more space between the tire and the left signal bolt than the right. It seems that the fender may be at a cant as well. I'm going to post some pictures and see what you all think. I may take the fender off the struts and look at both the fender and the struts for true-ness.

First off I thought that maybe I'd just increase the ride height, based on information here, it seems that I expected the shocks with the height adjustment and pinch nut, well here's what is under my chopper, was I wrong in my expectation?

Here is a measurement on fender to tireL

here is the most telling pic, you can see the variance in spacing from right to left, the left has much more spce, and it looks that even if the fender came down under weight it would clear the tire, and it did for a while, but then began rubbing.

I used my bike jack and some shims to get the bike's frame at the battery box parrallel with the garage floor, and then took these measurements. Now the tape may not be plumb, and I just considered that, but hopefully I've gotten enough information to get the point across and get some sage advice.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this!

05's didn't have adjustable shocks. I'll go measure mine and get back to you.

Where you at in Oregon? Have you pinned the map?

Ok, I found and pinned the mapp, sorry I missed it. I'm in NV to be accurate, the bike is registered in OR for the time being. I thought that the 05's had the ride height adjustment only, am I mistaken? Thanks

Wow, thats wierd. My 05 was so stiff with the stock shocks it was a ridgid!! I am 220 plus but when I sit down it wouldnt move even when I jumped on it!!! I put some after market shocks on and lowered it about 1 1/2 inches. Cant ride two but it made a real differance.

General Mayhem, I am no expert here but check the location of the wheel in the frame and see if it is where it is supposed to be.

The wheel seems to be fine in relation to the frame and swing arm.

I put one washer behind the rearward bolt on the right strut ... think about how it would pull the strut when all bolts are tight again .. it evened up the clearence .. best I could do ...

I still would like to know about the shocks and what type are supposed to be in the 05 Chopper.

Thanks

Man I need a tire pretty bad after looking at yours. Forgot how much tread comes on those things. My second one is toast after 7500 miles.....

As far as shocks ... those are the same as the ones that came on my 05. Std equip'. the adjustable ones are optional. You could go with an Air Ride..

Now as far as the adjustment. have you had the swing-arm pivot recall done? Just a thought

Kam is right... that is stock. It wasn't till 2006 that they came with adjustable ride height. Maybe somebody with a converted air ride will sell you their old ones.

Here's what the 2006 adjustbale ones look like
