Rewired EHC

Took me about 4 hours but I rewired the EHC in my 2006 K-9. I used the stock controls. Had to use a bunch of relays due to the negative voltage from the controls. Everything works but the turn signals. I am going to install a delay module for them. I was able to use the existing ignition switch. I only hooked up the low beams. I used all bosch standard 12 volt relays. A little big but they work great. I was too impatient to wait for the wire plus system!! At least I'm back on the road!!

Thanks. I will put up pics this weekend. I installed car audio and alarms before I became a Sheriff. Thought I was done with wiring!!

when you say you rewired it, first question is the EHC TOAsted? and did you actually have a fix for the ehc??? Is that what you are saying? If so pleaaaaaaaaaase pass the info/drawn up blue prints, listing of parts.

Congrats on the rewire job.

Just a F.Y.I. on the BDM hand controls.

The hand controls used on our bikes are stainless steel dome contact switches.. They are designed to collapse when presssed to make contact from their outer circular edge to the center contact point on the circuit board.

These types of keypad switches are designed for low current signal switching into our EHC module....meaning that they should only be used to switch LOW current circuits. Low current, in the range of 10 to 100 DC milliamps which is about the current draw for a small 12v relay.

Running high current through these dome switches and small trace contacts on the circuit board will eventually burn out the switch.

Use a relay to switch the higher current circuits.

Cheers

Impressive ! Fact I need the right side switch for mine. Still works just no clicky on the right turn signal.

Very nice. Look forward to details and pics.

For sure controls need low side relays, cannot handle high current.

ME for instance.
I don't think my EHC is a POS. For a few months my EHC would shut down every day but I replaced the connector under the ignition cover. If you don't have a good battery connection it will shut off the EHC. Now I think I get a shutdown once a month and I will figure this out also. I must say that you are not encouraging others or myself to share with you by letting yourself get frustrated then calling people $$sholes and telling someone they can eat $$$$. I hope you get the point!
