Remove vent pipe from gas tank

Energy One
Put a screw in it or take the time to remove it completely as I did.
Welding will just lead to it cracking again and if your going to go through that much trouble you might as well just remove it.

I am not convinced a screw will work... WOuld need a washer, maybe a rubber one to stopp it form moving. and its tight to start a reason screw/ bolt into a none threaded hole... doable i guess but hard and could drop into the tank.

Draining tank, and lettin git air out, and a quick TACK..... and its not going anywhere for awhile.. ha as long as I dont light fumes....

May just remove. BUT I would like to know where I am drilling to remove this. as noone has pics I can see of what a paint saver is, and where to drill at from the bottom, if it was loose i could get the tube out from the top.

At the back of your tank there is a port that the overflow tube is attached to. It may have a fitting with a tube running from it or it may just be capped. At the fill tube push the broken tube down and slide a coat hanger from the larger gas fill hole, down into the tube as far as it will go. Pull the fitting or plug and drill out the tube, at the back of the tank, with a bit that is just slightly smaller than the threads in the bung. Pull the tube out of the tank, install the plug back in the bung with a Teflon tape and paste and your done.

So I went and looked and this is the only think other then the pitcock I can find on the bottom of the tank. Looks like a alan head plug in the bottom of the right side of the tank....

SO once I pull the plug out of the tank. I assume I need to some how not mess up the threads for the plug, SO it does not leak gas later.. but get up inside that hole and drill/cut the tube off?

Well for others that do this, I will post the info.

Yes that's the plug. Remove and you will have access to the inside of the vent tube.

Drill with 1/4 inch bit, smaller will not break it free.

Then flush tank, install plug with lock tight,, and re assemble.....

Vibration is gone now, much more present to ride.
