Rear Lyndall Z-pad replacement but I have an issue

I replaced my brake pads with Lyndall z-pads in December. The rear brake does not have the stopping power when it's applied. I also smell something burning. I touched the rotor and found that it was burning up; would anyone know what the problem could be

Sounds like you might have a piston not retracting causing your brake to stick

I did have metal to metal on my last pads, and when taking them off, one of the pistons seized and I did force it back in. Do you think I may need a new caliper or rebuild the old utilizing a kit of some sort that I briefly read in one of the threads?

It all depends on the condition of the piston bores. It may just need to be deglazed to help clean up the bore and have new seals installed. You won't know until you get it taken apart.

When you reinstall the caliper unit make sure the caliper is shimmed correctly so the rotor runs center on the caliper top and bottom.

Thanks, I took off the caliper and noticed that two pistons were extended about an 1/8 of an inch while the other side was fully retracted. Could it possibly be that only one side of the caliper is working? I put chalk on both sides of the rotor to see if that is the case. I will let you know what happens.

Bigdog Bro1, Are you talking about the spacers as the shims when putting the caliper on? If so, there are three and I put two on the bottom. I will check to see if it lines up.

Correct. I think it should have the caliper split line centered on the middle of the rotor width.
