I was at a light and a Ducati 848 pulled up next to me and I couldn't help it. I took off and all I could see was his head light behind me but I was already in second gear when I opened her up. The next light we started fresh and he had me in first gear, I caught up in second and pulled away in third which was all fun but.... When I get on it, I bottom out and it feels like a chain or something is skipping, I am not sure how to describe it other than a skip or just my rear shocks bottoming out. Anyone have this issue? It didn't happen until I had my Tranny seals replaced and my entire primary apart. The dumbass that worked on my Chopper for the second time because of the leaks from when he replaced my Rotor and Stator had to redo all the seals and gaskets and took everything apart. He says it sounds more like my shocks bottoming out and there maybe a way to adjust them but I am done with him because I still have a leak but now in different spots. So is there anyway to adjust the rear shocks or just replace them and could that be why I don't launch like a bat out of hell? I did have a issue bottoming out before, it just seems so much worse now and only in first and second gear when I open her up. I can push on my rear fender and feel it real loose and it sways unlike before when it was stiff.

Not an authority on this but could your belt be loose. That would cause a skipping feeling if it was jumping cogs. Just a thought.

If the belt isn't adjusted tight enough it will jump a tooth under a load. mine was doing that, readjusted and it doesn't pop anymore.

I think it is a little loose and thought the same thing but my Dumbass Mechanic said he likes them like that and when I told him what is wrong he said shocks. M first thought was a jumping tooth but I don't know. Is there anyway I can check to see if that happens on my bike?

sounds like you may have a bad shock(s) the rear of the bike shoudn't be feeling loose like that. The stock shocks give you the ability to adjust ride heigth by making them longer or shorter, but thats it. I believe you can send them off to be rebuilt.

I think you're right ringo because I had felt that before but not this bad. My Chopper set for two months and when I got it back they seemed bad. Any idea why they would do that sitting for two months without my rim on and than go bad?

The part that sucked was I wanted to just Smoke that Ducati 848 Superbike as it is called. If my rear end didn't give me any problems I would of beat him a lot more. I never fall past his rear tire and when I got to 90 he was at about my rear and the next thing I knew I was doing 120. That was the first time I have done that and with it running like it does, it wasn't the smartest thing I have done. Still a lot of fun but it wont happen again.

Seriously, find another mechanic!

Broken frame
Loose or warn swingarm
Loose belt
Tire balance
Loose fender struts or broken bolts
Shocks

Start checking out your bike and go through it. You need to do maintenance inspections periodically. These bikes require it.

since your mechanic sucks maybe you should check to see whats going on under there for yourself. Maybe he left one off, or all that power has broke something.

Put an Allen wrench to the right swngarm pivot bolt to see if it spins freely.

Been through three.

I am sorry to announce that as far as acceleration and speed is concerned it will smoke any Big Dog, any day of the week. My sister races the 848, and again I am sorry to announce the same result. As far as fun to ride on the street - not even comparable, the Dog wins flat out. Even with the 212HP S&S motor in it will it ever have a chance against a Ducati when it comes to speed.

As for the shock problem, I sure hope you find the solution and will get the Dog back to riding like it should.

I knowI am getting off subject here, but is that thing comfortable to ride.

I'll have to agree with Viking here. And I've said this before - Big Dog's are NOT racing bikes. Yes, they have some power but they're no match for a Ducati and were never meant to be. A dump truck has a lot of power, too, but you're not going to see it line up with a GT 500. Two completely different rides - The Dog is for cruising and the Ducati is for the twisties. Both great rides, just in a different way. Be safe all. :cheers:

Hummmm you smoked a Ducati, he must of been running on one cylinder or still had his training wheels on it :D. My dog has a lot of goodies and when I see on of them bad boys I give them the thumbs up and smile. No match for me.

What you probably felt was your transmission slipping. Under high HP the gears and dogs will disengage and make it feel like the belt is slipping. The shifting forks will keep pushing the dogs back into position when the load is a little less. Other posts have stated that the transmission are good for about 100 hp, and that seems to be about correct. There is a fix for it , but it costs about a $1,000 to improve it. Im no transmission expert, but this is what I have been told by a transmission expert....

I agree with the above statement, my Harley Fat was dragged regulary and this was a very common problem.
As for blowing off a Duc i highly doubt it, he was just playing with you as you are with us!!!
