Yeah......your gonna have a few tiny issue's...BUT the RIP kit is SUPERIOR in every way to the original EHC nightmare....I installed my RIP kit last winter and had a few small issues.......I called Curtis and me and him worked right threw it, I contacted Jason and spoke directly with him and Matt Moore, and told them my issue"s and they were great to deal with.........Have not had 1 single issue with it since....I think it is a great product...My bike starts every time now:)........

Looks like a clean install. So you pulled out the old harness from the back bone and put the new harness in? Everything works like before?

Good job:old2:
Does the Rip GenII have the upgraded ceramic headlight socket? and do they offer a low charging light option?
On the last pic, what is the JST connector for coming out of the backbone?
The new kit does not have a separate connection for the headlight, it utilizes the existing wires. About the low charge light option I am not sure if that is part of the new Gen II.
You caught me on the last pic...I was ready to take a picture of the install and forgot to connect the ignition wire. :(

It is a clean install. Just take time to route the wires to where it fits best on the bike. I have not been able to do a full test yet...I broke the starter after the install. I ordered the new starter front mount from Curtis and should finish the putting everything back together this Saturday, then I will test all the components to make sure that it is running correctly and controls work. I ordered the replacement EHC since my micro controller locked up. My bike would drive about two blocks then shut off. I went through every connection, and troubleshot the entire charging system before sending the EHC out for testing.

I heard that they where looking to keep the existing backbone harness. I got a Gen II for my Chopper and had the complete harness.

No it does not replace the headlamp pigtail. It uses all the stock setups.

No it does not have the charge monitor.

Yes it uses all stock connectors and functions. Hazzards, self cancel signals, low beam out indicator.

One thing i did not like is the starter will turn over when the key is on but the run/stop is in stop position. That i did not like at all.

Rebuilt the starter today and put everything back together. Today was the first time that I was able to take the bike out for a ride without it shutting off after two blocks. The bike rode great! I still have some issues that need to be resolved with the install.
  1. Speedometer does not work.
  2. Annunciator ring for RPM lights has a constant weird flicker.
  3. Left turn signal indicator doesn't work.
  4. Starter button works intermittently. If I push the button just right it will start, but could only turn over once. This is the same symptom that caused my starter to lock up in the first place.
  5. When I turn on the key the headlights are on high beam.
  6. The "Engine Stop" or "Off" doesn't shut off the bike.
The issues that I am experiencing are new after the install. I called the guys at KMW and left a message. I am looking to get the last few issues resolved and take the bike out for a much needed ride!

Eric is one of my customers and I have him working directly with me so we can get his issues resolved asap.
Thanks for the call today Curtis, you have been extremely helpful with troubleshooting and diagnosing the old EHC, starter parts/rebuild, and getting the new Gen II up and running. I took the bike out for a 15 mile ride and all issues mentioned above are resolved. The issues were only present on the initial start-up and ride. Every time I have started the bike since everything has worked correctly. Could be the bike was pissed since it hasn't been rode in over 6 months. :)

Thanks guys, slowing down lately though.
Both hips have gone bone on bone so I am facing a hip resurface or hip replacement x 2 in the coming months.
At the very least though the web site will stay running and I will endeavor to provide parts in a timely manner.
:hi: Don't rush the recovery, take it slow and easy. everyone here want's to keep ya around a while!:yesnod::old2::old2::chopper:

Install took about 2 hours and was a true plug and play.
Cons:
  1. Wires are longer than original.
  2. Horn connection came off during install.
  3. Difficult to fit all wires in the original location.
  4. Wires going in to new EHC has a plastic housing. (see pictures)

Eric, why did you go with the gen 2 RIP rather than DOC's or the wire plus replacemnt for your ehc.
BTW wher in Houston do you live, I am from Sugarland

I went with the R.I.P Gen II kit because of Curtis at WSW, it was his recommendation, since it was new on the market. Curtis was always helpful and answered every questions I asked about troubleshooting the bike. I learned a lot during the process. I went through all the troubleshooting steps before sending out the EHC to Curtis before testing. Another thing that I liked is that the Gen II is a true plug-and-play and required no modification to fit. In previous postings I mentioned a few things that could be improved upon with this new kit. Overall I am please with how simple the install was, and that my bike is back up an running.

Also, I live in NW Houston.
