Yeah still doing some jet changes, but the bike is running fantastic, I got some bad nerve damage going on so it's hard for me to get more than 100 miles a day on it but it will be broke in by today or tomorrow because I took 2 days off work just to make sure.

Well I hope nobody bought this shit. Here's what's been happening. First I had some dripping going on where the connection is on the fuel petcock itself. i changed to 3 different type clamps and no matter what it still was dripping slightly. Also been getting some drops on my exhaust which I could not track down until last night after getting it nice and hot. It appears this material gets hot and expands enough to let it escape the hose at the fitting. When I got home last night I could spin the connection at the carb and when it cooled it was tight again. So I had this other black heat resistant braided black nylon hose so I'll give this a try.

Al I am using a bunch of the black braided on my Camaro project. All AN fittings. It looks killer and so much easier to work with than that braided steel shit!

I agree. I even used a small pc. of shrink wrap on each end to keep the braid from coming undone but I just used the cheap cover clamps. I figured what the hell the comp. release wires are black, coil wires are black , spark plug wires are black. Adds a little contrast to the motor and still no scratching of the paint or aluminum.

like the braided vinyl fuel lines - much improved over stock black vinyl.

How hard is this job? I have minimal "shop" skills but want to replace the fuel line and the front/rear cylinder vent lines. Besides the line and o-clips (and pincher tool) do I need anything else?

Anyone aware of any "how-to" on this job?

I really like the black braided look but read about the leaks and don't want any part of that. Anyone have any luck with other fuel line mods - not really interested in SS.

I had the clear braded line installed on my bike and what a horror!! First after i got done riding to the keys the fuel line was dripping fromthe petcock and the inlet to the carb. After I got back from my trip I saw that the fuel line where it comes close to the cylinder heads and the rear breather hose were melted. Thank got it didn't rupture and go on fire!!

Is the black braided hose the same as the one found in JEGS catalog?
What is the deal with the odd sizing in JEGS ... 6AN, 12AN .. why not 5/16 .. etc?

Alright I found it .. posting for others that may be questioning.

Hose Size is the measurement of the Inner Diameter of the hose measured in units of 1/16th of an inch.

Examples:
a -2 hose has an I.D. of 1/8"
a -3 hose has an I.D. of 3/16"
a -4 hose has an I.D. of 1/4"
a -5 hose has an I.D. of 5/16"
a -6 hose has an I.D. of 3/8"
a -8 hose has an I.D. of 1/2"
a -10 hose has an I.D. of 5/8"
a -12 hose has an I.D. of 3/4"
a -16 hose has an I.D. of 1"
a -20 hose has an I.D. of 1 1/4"

Alrighty, as taken from above and off the bike, the AN conversions for tubing size would be:

Fuel: 5/16 or AN-5
Rear Breather: 3/8 or AN-6
Front Breather: 3/16 or AN-3
(why not) Bowl overflow: 1/8 or AN-2

Now I can't seem to find any black nylon auto fluid rated hose in AN-5, AN-3 or AN-2 sizes .. or the normal mesurement equiv.

Did you find the right size for the fuel line or up size it and clamp it?

While doing some tuning and many jet changes, I decided I can't stand that steel braided line anymore. I went with this old look but a newer material from Motion Pro. Also used the special clamps for a cleaner look.
