Pushrod adjustment

Phatass / Chacha thanks for the instructionals on the Pushrod adjustment. My 2005 mastiff 117 is a lot quieter now and I feel better about it being mechanically sound. When I purchased the bike I immediately took it to the shop for a good look over and any maintenance that needed to be done. Now as a result of the wealth of information and knowledgeable folks on this site I'm pretty confident I can do all the maintenance myself. I definetely am a financial supporter of this website and encourage anyone else who has benefited from this site to support it financially. :2thumbs:

Anytime....past anything ya learn up here and most everyone can wrench their own rides.

Pushrods are intimidating for some, but if you do it once, you see it's not hard, you'll be glad you did and you'll be ready for more.

I wish I could check which cam is inside without having to mess with the Pushrods!!!:bang: I´ve read the How To about it over and over many times and I am still confused:confused: but again... I guess there is always a first time so I better man up and just get it done! :D

I'm going to make a short attempt to walk one cylinder adjustment. Look at the one cylinder with two push rods. You keep memorizing this mantra before you attempt the physical move. Make these mental moves.

EOIC means; Exhaust Opens/Intake Closes. This means; As soon as you see either one move, you stop moving the crank. So if the exhaust begins to open, you stop and now set the intake valve. When the intake begins to close, you immediately stop and set the exhaust valve's push rod.

Deconfusing The EOIC Memory Mantra:

As Soon As
Exhaust Openstop
Intake Closestop
As Soon As
Exhaust Openstop
Intake Closestop
As Soon As

Repeat EOIC Mantra

P.S.
This is how NASCAR sets their push rods. It positions the cam's heel at its [lowest point] for that valve to be adjusted.

Check out You-Tube, there is a video on how to adjust them on there. I allways find it easyer to see how it's done, then by reading it. Good video, but don't forget to put the upper part of the tubes back in place. I did forget, bunch of oil everywhere.

So did I the first time, when you put the bike on the stand and remove the plugs, for ease of turning, lift the rod covers up and turn the back wheel and watch the push rods move and it will very easy to understand.
