I have an 08 mastiff LE, after my 2nd pulley was worn out (teeth) I sent it to supermax and had poly teeth installed. When I got it back and installed it I found I couldn't get the belt aligned. After further investigation I found the pulley was level with the front pulley, it was recessed 1/4". I had to have a spacer machined to space the pulley out slightly.
After a few thousand miles I ended up snapping all 5 pulley bolts and had to get the bolts machined out of the hub and rep ain't the pulley.
The hub has a slight raised spot that fits "into" a recessed cavity on the pulley. With the spacer between the hub and pulley nothing fits into the pulley. I'm wondering if that has/had anything to do with the bolts breaking? I figure the raised hub fitting into the pulley may prevent some of the lateral stress'. Is this correct?
So, the final question I guess is, was there supposed to be a spacer? And if so, is there a special kind that would fit correctly?
Supermax said to send the pulley and nothing else, I didn't "think" there was a spacer when I pulled it, but when neither me nor my mechanic could get the belt to align, I figured I must've had one on and didn't pull it and supermax pulled it off and didn't return it.
Thank you.
