That really looks great, congrats. Those guys do some really trick work, if I ever get around to getting a new frame I'm going to use an "axe" tank.

Ahh I see you too have suffered the effects of watching Mad Max too many times at a very influencial age too. Even our reffenece to most of the shop's work having a "post-apocalyptic" feel is tribute the movie. Extra points if anyone gets the make of car he drives???

Where Staffy is a bit too generous is in describing the fit. You guys that know sheet metal know that there is no way to make a piece that is just gonna fit perfect the first time. All I did was take the original tunnel and fenders and dressed em up a bit hopefully without taking things too far out of tollerances and Staffy took care of the rest. It is the nature of the beast that it aint gonna just bolt up the first time and even Fed Ex can be counted on to do thier part to ensure the mantra: "If it bolts on... it ain't custom" rings true.

Thanks - Just sent him my old tins and a few emails. The whole process including shipping was 3 weeks. Fits like a glove (a little tweaking here and there). I believe Ron from Vision has this down to a science and can offer this up as a bolt on "KIT". Also, this is extremly well made and LIGHT - not just sheets of metal welded on - all Individual pieces of metal that come together. Just awesome work.
Ray? Are you paying attention to this thread?
I bet you could have your new larger custom tank done before you get your scoot back from the puppy farm.

Ron and Staffy,

the tank and fender look sick. I think Cutter has some great suggestions for the paint job. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of the final stages.

Thank you all for all the valuable input and comments. YES THIS IS A FUN PROJECT and am happy to answer any questions or concerns (Ray just in case you want to take the plunge :) :)
Yes - the paint scheme is going to be the most difficult decission to make - too many choices and options. Ron is very much plugged in and part of the decission making. Deano's will be painting the bike. Its a one stop shop and very reputed (They do most, if not all the Bourget bikes). Would have liked to engage Julio another member from the forum but that approach gets way too cumbersome as he only does the paint; First nickle coat the tank, then the body work, finally followed by the paint - engaging three different shops - ouch!!
The final rendering will take place once they (Deano's) actually has the tank. This way they get a good idea of what they are dealing with.
Thanks again to all

.... or even actual steel/aluminum spin riveted to the tank and fenders.
That is a sinister idea Cutter. How could it be pulled off? Beat up some aluminum rivets and pop em in there after the paint and before the clear?

I know fucking up a Mastiff like this is sacilege to some guys on this forum but to me it is sacrilege to paint metal to look like metal (WTF  ) I would love to see an idea where the real metal shows through with a scratched up texture if that is possible.

doing some ground metal and hitting it with a nice candy (maybe pagan gold) would look sharp. Do the bike up in a Pagan gold / Tangerine Kandy combo, hit the edges of the "plates" with a ground looks and maybe even airbrush in some skulls or something wicked looked. Here are some pics of what I am referring to when I mention ground metal

Harley offered some limited edition tins like this back in 2004. I saw a sweet V-rod with the tins on it when I bought my Softail. This is a very cool look, the bare metal with a candy over it.
