Problem with starting

Energy One
Hows it going! Looks like an awesome site. Been browsing around for a while.

I have a question...I have a 2003 Big Dog Chopper. When I try and start it ,all it does is turn over. No start..While turning it over there is a green/Amber light that lights up but that is it. I have checked to see if there is power to the coil and there is not. All the lights work on the bike itself. Any help would be great!

Also there is no light coming on at the thunderheart ignition module.

Thanks in advance!

Ok I'll throw this out there. Did you check the cam sensor? there is plenty of posts on this...

Welcome aboard :hi:

I guess I should be more clear..there is only one light coming on during the rotation of the motor. It is not the red light but the other light next to it that is either green or amber looking. On my bike there is three separate boxes. The ehc,a little black box with the two lights and the thunderheart ignition aluminum box.

I did rewire the headlight at the headlight housing. and now the high beam switch is the low and the low beam switch is the high. Could that be it???

I wouldnt think so but hell I'm confused with this set up.

Thanks

I have an 03 mastiff. My ehc looks like this.

It has no lights that I'm aware of. Is the light you're talking about on the ignition module?

yep..i have that and an extra one but no lights on it..there is a little black box on top of my battery with the two lights

and the single light on the ignition module. which is not lighting up at all.

I just went out and tried to fire mine to look at the lights. Does your bike háček compression release? When I hit the start button that light on the black box lit as well as the red one on the ignition module. If your light isn't hitn on that I'm going to guess module or cam sensor.

So, when did the bike start showing the condition of not starting? Was it before you tried jumping the bike with the truck or after? Give us the full scenairo of how you got to this state, it will help with assisting. You might have fried the EHC...

Last night I re wired the headlight, went to start the bike and the battery was almost dead so I jumped it off. It would not start. So I started to further investigate and noticed no light coming on on the igition module. The green light lights up on the black box while turning over the engine. The wires are backwards on the headlight making the higbeam the low beam vice versa.

On the box my yellow green light lit. Yeah. You could have done some damage via the jump. May not be the ehc but could be the module. Hang tight and we'll get you squared away one way or the other.

Sooner or later you should fix the wires on the headlight so it works properly. The EHC senses the headlight. I'm not saying this is your problem but it should be fixed to work correctly. Be patient and attack the issues logically. There's plenty of info and people willing to help you here. When u have issues best thing to do is explain step by step what u did up to the failure.

Never ever jump the doggie with a vehicle running the EHC does not like that.

I would charge the battery up while your fixing the headlamp and run the checks on the cam sensor. Here's the link to help you check the cam sensor....

Yea,i have it on the charger now. I am changing the wires just wouldnt have thought it could do this. I have had tons of bikes and never these issues with this.
