Do you have the front and rear cylinder wires crossed at th coil ( pending you took them loose for the install)?

Pinch a wire on reassembly?

I agree. I think its something to do with your coil wires. I had this exact same problem on my warrior when I did a big air kit and coil relocation. I got the coil wires crossed. When I went to start it, it just cranked and cranked until all that fuel shot out the exhaust in a huge fire ball. Flipped the wires and it ran cherry after that.

I did try starting it without the breather on. No dice.
Im thinking tonight I will just start all over and check and recheck everything.
Thanks all for your advice. Lord knows I've made similar mistakes in the past!

Ok, Im pretty sure I figured it out....one I'm an idiot. I talked to bob just now and in the middle of our conversation about possibly reconnecting the ignition wires wrong I thought to myself wait I think I connected the spark plug wires backwards. I connected the front cylinder to the rear connector on the ignition and vice versa! Why did I do this??? I think I may not be getting enough sleep to be honest. I do remember thinking to myself does this go this way? I thought nothing of it because when I laid that assembly down o the shelf the wires laid down in that criss cross fashion. Anyway this would have to explain the timing being thrown off right? Now ill just have to wait after work to fix this little mixup....I'm hoping I did not damage anything by trying to start it that way.

Feel free to crack jokes at anytime....

Ha Ha! Hope thats what it is!

Thats okay bought my first street bike in 1981 twas a sportster. Rode it around the parkin lot at the dealer and I thought I was the shit. Brought the bike home on my truck, put it away for the night. Next day after work was gonna ride a bit but stay close by cause I had no tags. Well cranked and cranked and cranked not start got dark put the bike up and just kept thinkin what could i have done and whats it gonna cost. Well it was what i hadn't done. Even after havin off road bikes for years I was so excited with the street bike I forgot to cut the fuel on. So weve all be there at one point or another.

Cool.

At least it was an inexpensive fix.

More importantly, a known solution to the problem with no, will this happen while I ride it.
