polished engine

Does anyone polish motors that were originaly powder coated?
Seams like it might not be worth all the aggraviation
plus how do you remove powder coating?

one other statement was that if you polish the heat will cause all dimensions to get messed up on heads and cylinder wall
i don't have a clue on this
The black my be the lesser of the evels for now

I'm about to use a polisher that commends himself on motor polishing. Will soon find out. I'm about to give him a customers heads and cylnders to polish before I send out for diamond cut.

The up keep on a polished motor is a pain, but it sure looks good.

Ok i think the polished motor has it all over the black
probably cause I have black
polished motor guys is it that hard to keep up keeping it nice

To echo Moe, I'd go with media blasting and then hand polish it.

I kind of hate my polished motor, still cleaning after the rain and mud from my Sturgis trip this year.

It's a labor of love. I've never been a lazy person so... Saturday's I spend a couple of hours on the bike,pool,and lawn.:cheers:

Go figure.

I would rather have the black engine and ride the bike all the time....kind of what I do with my SG. The AIH is afraid of rain due to the polished aluminium parts.
