polished engine

Does anyone polish motors that were originaly powder coated?
Seams like it might not be worth all the aggraviation
plus how do you remove powder coating?

I'd start by beadblasting it. You can chemical strip that shit but it's a mess.

one other statement was that if you polish the heat will cause all dimensions to get messed up on heads and cylinder wall
i don't have a clue on this
The black my be the lesser of the evels for now

As long as you're not polishing with a MAP torch you should be fine.

I'm about to use a polisher that commends himself on motor polishing. Will soon find out. I'm about to give him a customers heads and cylnders to polish before I send out for diamond cut.

The up keep on a polished motor is a pain, but it sure looks good.

To echo Moe, I'd go with media blasting and then hand polish it.

I kind of hate my polished motor, still cleaning after the rain and mud from my Sturgis trip this year.

It's a labor of love. I've never been a lazy person so... Saturday's I spend a couple of hours on the bike,pool,and lawn.

I would rather have the black engine and ride the bike all the time....kind of what I do with my SG. The AIH is afraid of rain due to the polished aluminium parts.
