Was playing with my new Welder today, it's a cheap welder from Harbor Freight but I bought it to weld up the exhaust on my CJ and figured what else can I do?

I've been needing a Jack for the table lift so I can do oil changes and rear tire changes on the table lift. I looked online and they wanted like $80-$100 for one of these

Came out okay but works great!! Had a car lift and I also used the old baker clutch hub nut and welded that on so I can use the impact to raise the bike ! Might make another one so I can distribute the weight better.

Next thing to build is a metal welding table. Pallet ain't going to get it.don't want to be reading about an incident in the paper.

Haha notice the burn marks on the pallet?

I also got a PM from a member regarding lateral movement and I agree with lift along with lateral movement hence why I mentioned I need to build another one. Anyways, this is why I've lifted it only 5-6" for that purpose and what you can't see in the pics is the bike is strapped down and its also sitting in a Condor Wheel Chock. 5-6" is just enough to get an oil pan out and plenty of room for the wheel.

I wouldn't advise using just one of these without the other pieces straps and a high quality wheel chock. This is Another reason I want to build a second one to better distribute the weight. However when it was lifted I rocked the bike and the only movement was the actual lift flexing and not the bike moving.

When I was 19 and at my first job I was making machine guards with a guy at work and he left the welding stick straight up in the air, I was moving the guard around on the ground table and hit my elbow on the stick while my hand was grounded thru the guard, it was set at 100 Amps, holy mother, I thought it ripped my arm outta the socket the way it sent my arm flying over my head. He told me he thought that was a bad idea, YA THINK:oldbang::oldangry:

Also here's an image of the tool if you are to purchase one. The lift I'm using is for a car so the lift itself is plenty strong.

I may weld a large footing on the bottom when I do both to secure the footing.

Anyways just throwing ideas out for people. All this stuff I had and it was junk.

My little Mig is my favorite tool, so much you can do, I have used it for everything, from welding quarter panels to shortening driveshafts and even making a sisy bar for the Chopper. You using gas or just flux core wire? Like your idea, nice !!!! :old2:

Just flux core, no gas.

This was my first thing to build actually. Other than welding up the exhaust so welds look like shit.

I like the idea of having a second one and weld both on the same Large steel plate. I think I'll do that. Just need to find a second Jack.

I had two pieces of angle iron that I welded together. Everything I had was on hand just looked around for scrap

Nice, great idea!!! I save every piece of steel I can find, especially bed frames, great for making shit. With gas your welds come out sooo much better especially welding thinner material like sheet metal and exhaust, its like night and day!!!

The hardest part of finding a lift is one that actually will slide under the bike these big dogs are not very tall!

I've got some ideas to make this much better just need to pick up some more material. I'll keep y'all posted I'll have it done this weekend.

Haha funny. I used one of those with a 2x4 to lift the bike until I could get it onto a 6x6 until I got the same scissor lift as posted above.

I have been using the jacks out of a late 90s chevy pickup. I think the base is a little wider.

Nice work Eric.

Working on my associates in welding and may buy a welder someday. Nice work
I'm sure your welder will be much nicer.

A lot of people complain about the harbor freight junk and while some of it is this welder I bought already paid for itself. It's nothing special but for someone who will use it a handful of times a year it is perfect. I'm not winning any awards for my welds I can assure you! Haha. But it's kinda fun to throw on that welding helmet and play.
