There is a few things it can be...
1) is the battery charged, weak or old battery not taking charge?
2)checks grounds under the seat and the one on the starter nose cone where it goes into the back of the primary housing...
3) if all that checks good then we need to see what kinda of ehc system is on it so when you get a chance with the seat off post a picture of the battery box area and we go from there

Knothead has some good things to start checking, so get to them. Sounds like you have a short somewhere, and it's going to take a little bit to find it. After checking your charging system, what I want you to do is take your headlight apart, and see if the plug is melted in there.
Let us know and we'll go from there.

Gentleman. It gets hot in the headlight bucket, and melts the plastic wiring plug. When replacing, or to prevent this from happening, install a CERAMIC plug. Works for me. Hope this helps JJ
