Overflow drain leaking gas

Gas is flowing from the carb overflow when the fuel petcock is on. Anyone know why that would occur?

Your float is sticking or your needle valve has dirt in it. Drain the carb and pull the bowl off. Look to see if the float is moving freely. Hold up on the float and turn the petcock on. If fuel is leaking, the needle valve is dirty or may need replaced.

If you have never removed the bowl from your bike before read up on how it's done. There is a small o-ring on top of the enrichener nozzle that you need to be aware of and install when you put the bowl back up. Also pay attention to the accelerator pump rod, It can be left in place but can fall down. No big deal as long as you know where it goes.
You may not need a new gasket but if it leaks your stuck.

thank you. I will work it tomorrow. The immediate fix told to me today that worked is

turn off the gas
start the bike
just before the bike runs out of gas turn the gas back on.
This cleared the needle valve so I could get it home. Who knew.

Running fine now , but will pull the bowl tomorrow to make sure everything is covered.
