So do you know if the "wrongly modified" starters were used originally from Big Dog? I can see oil on the bottom of my starter if I get up under and look at it, it never drips on the ground, at least not in the garage, so I am wondering if there's a problem or if it's just a bad seal or sumth'n? It ain't a really big deal, yet.

I just got the new pinion nut socket in the mail today I chewed up the last one getting the old nut off. With some luck she might be up and running by this weekend the new oil pump I installed last weekend then got held up with the socket issue. Once I tighten that back goes the lifters and tappets and rod and adjust. Button up the primary, I have to finish the battery indicator wiring too but that's not necessarily now and I might just leave it off until I shake the bike down. Don't need to introduce more than I need to right now.

we'll see what else might be wrong.. Haha

There would be a definite oil mark under it, more than a couple drops.
It could be coming from the vent you just found out about if you don't whip it clean occasionally

WTF!!! Went on here today. I turn my back for a few hours to change out all my florescence to LEDs in the garage and you

Ok my 04 Mastiff LSD looks to have the older style cover. Maybe Harley or Revtech. This is a very controversial subject when I look up primary venting. The backside of my primary looks exactly like this one.IMG_1422.JPG

I need a good inspection mirror anyway I'll pick one up tomorrow and check again.

Shouldn't vent anywhere to my knowledge.

The issue was it would vent out the starter on the 05. Which was the path of least resistance. I'm sure the issue was compounded as at the time the starters were filling with oil and it didn't have any way to drain back really. The relief in the starter was a later mod with a drain hole I'm the inner primary.

I think the problem is specific to the DSSC system and the shallow primary cover. The standard Harley primary has more space and thus less pressure buildup.

How do you like the LED? I have not done that yet.

Did ya just remove the ballast or change the whole fixture?

I only put new flouresants in a little over 3 years ago in the garage at that time LED was still pricey just in the last year they have come down a lot. I've almost got all the bulbs in the house changed over at this point.

I have four high bay fixture each with six bulbs. I had to completely disassemble the fixtures remove ballast, unwire, remove and disassemble the bulb holder on one side. I cut the little copper connector in half and drilled a little hole for the wire to go in the other side of the connector for the stab lock where it was supposed to be but wasn't. Took me about an hour per fixture after the first one. The light is very different and instantaneous and hopefully I won't have to repair the fixtures every year like I was doing with the florescence. The light will take a little getting used to but I like them and I have no problem seeing my big mess in the garage. I think later today I'm going to go clean on the garage a little bit and get a suntan at the same time.

I put some of the LED's above my machines. These work with the ballast. Super bright, but they mess up my radio.

I bought 2 from Lowe's and changed one out as a test. I now have light in the dungeon. I bought 4 for the bar that I built for my bus and it is ample light for the barn. They are bright but just a tad pricey
